I am not a very social person at all. I was in the marching band for my first two years of college, but I knew that I needed to get more involved on campus and actually make connections before I graduate. So, I decided to apply for a bunch of stuff, including the Arts and Sciences Ambassador Program. I knew that it was a pretty prestigious group, but I thought that I might have a chance. I am so glad that I decided to do this. I have met some amazing people and my experiences have been one of a kind. My favorite part has been the UK Preview Nights for prospective students. This a) helped me come out of my shell and talk to people and b) tell high school students about the University of Kentucky and all of its awesome programs and people. I met a lot of people at these Preview Nights, but one high school senior really stuck with me. He had already decided on UK and had already been accepted, and he had declared that he wanted to study History. Of course I got really excited because I study History here at UK, and I was so happy to be able to be the one to tell him about the History program. He asked me about my own experience in the program and I gladly told him that I was proud to be a History student, as well as an English student. This experience has stayed with me because I felt like I really had an impact on this student, as well as the others who I met. It made me even more proud to be a student at UK as well as an ambassador because most people don't get to have these sorts of experiences and it's very special, it's something that you must hold on to.
