5 Reasons BuzzFeed Should Hire Me As An Account Manager

Tina Fey if my spirit animal. My older brother tells people that I am the funniest person he has ever met. Actually, if I'm being totally honest I have considered dropping out of school to become a stand-up comedian once or twice during those grueling finals week library all nighters. I've always been quick witted, goofy, and outgoing ever since I was just a little girl. If I could list "making people laugh" as a skill on my resume without making HR people actually laugh at me (and NOT with me) while they simultaneously shred my resume and delete my cover letter I probably would.

I'm sure you get this a lot, but when my friends read BuzzFeed they are convinced that I wrote half of the articles. My point here is: while I won't be editing or publishing, I understand BuzzFeed as a brand. From your hilarious articles and countdowns, to your pressing news and tributes, to your sponsored posts and more, BuzzFeed is the voice of my generation. I know that my understanding of your brand and target audience can really help me remain organized and knowledgable when working with clients in all aspects of the business.

4. I'm a natural leader.

As a member of executive council for the Clemson University Guide Association and for my Panhellenic sorority Zeta Tau Alpha, I had the prestigious honor to help lead two major campus organizations at the same time. Both positions required weekly meetings, problem solving, and strong communication and public speaking skills. I was also a member of Zeta Tau Alpha's fundraising committee where I helped raise over $35,000 in support of Susan G. Komen and Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. With such leadership skills, I can be thrown into any situation no matter how fast paced and quickly learn how to adapt and accomplish set goals.

3. I geek out over all things digital and social.

As the sole marketing intern for Hearst Digital Media in New York City, I got a glimpse into the digital advertising world from a publishing standpoint...and I'm hungry for more! Throughout the summer, I assisted marketing managers in building proposals for key clients such as P&G, Nordstrom, Kraft, and more including ideation, research, writing, mock-up design, and copy-editing. I also designed a fully-fleshed marketing deck from start to finish based on a real request for proposal from Banana Republic. At the end of the summer, I presented this deck to the entire marketing team. Additionally, I attended weekly sales and marketing meetings to learn all aspects of the business. In an environment where social and digital media are everything, I can use my passion and experience to contribute to BuzzFeed's innovative and ever-creative advertising culture.

2. I'm a New York girl with a southern twist.

As a born and raised New York gal (shoutout to the 914), I know what it's like to be in a fast paced city full of go-getters, subway dwellers, and really (I mean really) good pizza and bagels. But after spending my last four years in the upstate of South Carolina at Clemson University, I've pushed myself beyond my comfort zone and gotten a taste of southern hospitality, sweet tea, and the traditions and rich friendships that come along with life below the Mason Dixon. While I've been quickly transformed into an avid college football fan, I haven't quite shaken my New York accent or my constant need for that quick-paced thrill. However, having lived in two very different places for an extensive amount of time, I have a unique perspective to bring to the table with diverse experiences from the many different people I have encountered in my young life.

For the past four years I have always expressed that working for BuzzFeed was a dream of mine. I would be lying if I said I didn't jump out of my bed and sprint a glory lap around my house when I saw the posting for an account manager on your website.

My heart lies in advertising and combined with my love of BuzzFeed and everything you stand for and represent, I feel I would be an excellent fit as a member of your team. I want to contribute to the voice of my generation and with my interpersonal and organizational skills I truly feel I could be a useful member of your account management team. Additionally, I am a quick learner and I strive to succeed and do my best with any project no matter how small.

So while I may not have much figured out as a squandering twenty-something, I do know one thing: I would love to be a part of the BuzzFeed community!
