Nestled right against Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this town is a great place to visit for scenic views of autumn in the mountains. There’s also lots to see and do in the town itself, including the Arts & Crafts Community and the Gatlinburg Space Needle.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee

This former logging town has become Washington’s version of a charming Bavarian village. Beyond hosting an annual Autumn Leaf Festival and Oktoberfest, it’s also a great starting point for hiking in the Cascade Mountains.

Leavenworth, Washington

This historic town is situated on the coast, making it a beautiful place to visit in the fall. It has all sorts of locally-owned shopping and dining, and it plays host to the NH Film Festival in October.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire

This community on the Columbia River is _the_ place to be for Halloween. Every October, St. Helens celebrates its legacy as the filming location of the Disney Channel movie _Halloweentown_ with a month-long Halloween party. They have haunted houses, costume contests, a pumpkin lighting ceremony, and more.

It may be well-known for skiing, but Aspen is also a great place to see spectacular fall colors. There’s plenty of hiking trails for seeing majestic mountain views, sparkling lakes, and, of course, beautiful golden aspen trees.
