    1. A three-in-one avocado slicer small enough to slide into your utensil drawer — it'll more than earn its keep by taking care of those pesky pits and giving you slices so perfectly portioned you'll break your friends' Instagram feeds.

    Amazon

This three-in-one tool can split an avocado with its pointy tip, remove the pit with its center, and make perfectly even slices with the bottom — a much safer alternative to using a regular knife and potential falling prey to the dreaded "avocado hand."

Promising review: "So worth the space in the kitchen! This thing really does what it says. I love mine and use it all the time. Pit removal is super easy with this, no more knife-prying. I didn't think the cutting tool would be as effective as it is — but it works great as well. No complaints on this product — would buy again!" —K. Cyr

    2. A universal jar opener that is a true investment in steering clear of my least favorite hobby, "Knocking on the neighbor's door to see if they can get the darn pasta sauce jar open." Not only will this do the trick every time, but it doesn't take up *any* extra drawer space.

A model using a white round jar opener mounted under a cabinet to pull a lid off a jar

Promising review: "I've tried a million different tools and gadgets for help opening jars of all sizes, and each one had its own issues! Finally, someone has invented the perfect jar opener that is simple and requires no space in your kitchen drawers or counters. There was one reviewer who suggested placing the opener with the sharp end of the V closest to you and with it placed in the front-right corner under your cabinet. Promising review: "I originally picked these up to use in lieu of nasty, nasty dishrags that invoke my inner THIS IS NOT CLEAN demon. Since then, I have used them for everything from cleaning the kitchen to wiping up spills. After use, just toss in the wash and they are ready to go again. They are the perfect size and do an excellent job on every task to which I have applied them. They come in a variety of fun prints and I have yet to wear one out. Hands running a knife through the small sharpener
    Amazon

Promising review: "Wow, this little gadget is pretty amazing! I have some old (expensive) nonserrated knives that are supposed to never need sharpening but, unfortunately, lost their sharp edge long ago. I saw this gadget and decided to try it. I set the bottom of this gadget on the edge of the counter and ran one of the knives through the side labeled 'Coarse' about 10 times, then ran it through the side labeled 'Fine' another 8–10 times. Bingo! The knife was transformed back to its former high-dollar cutlery glory. I could hardly believe how effectively it had sharpened the knife, which I had been ready to throw away a week before. I've been happily sharpening all our knives and trying to add up in my head how much money I've saved by NOT having to buy another set of expensive knives. I don't know where else you can spend $6 and get this return for the money. Great score!" —Schelly L. Wagoner

Promising review: "I have been drinking caffeinated beverages everyday for half my life, usually brewing hot then cooling it down with ice, which was quite a process to do every morning. Then I came across this cold brew pitcher and thought I'd give it a try. It's great, easy to use and clean, very convenient, lasts for a couple weeks, I love it! Making a pitcher of coffee take less time than a normal brewer and makes enough for at least one cup a day for about a week, depending on how much coffee concentrate is used. I haven't used my normal coffee or espresso machine since I got this cold brew system. The coffee seems to taste better as well, not a huge difference but it's somewhat noticeable." —Jeremy Birnbaum

A reviewer's vegetable and mozzarella sticks cooking on a sheet pan
    amazon.com

Promising review: "I like to do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint but I don't want to make my life unnecessarily difficult or ineffective. These mats allow me to eliminate the use of foil or parchment paper on my baking sheets, thereby saving money and being that much less potential product in the landfill. So far I have baked breadsticks and roasted vegetables on them, and they work like a charm. The heat distribution is great and they're nonstick without using spray or oil. If I had a complaint, it would be that they're a little hard to clean by hand due to how bendy and flexible they are and the fact that oil and grease seems to want to stick to it like a magnet. It isn't a big deal, though, and I'll be buying more of these." —Michelle Daniels

    10. A *super*-compact eight-in-one spiralizer that also grates cheese, juices fruits, and cuts ribbons, and more. All you have to do is change out one of the interlocking caps for a new function. Fresh squeezed OJ? Zoodles in the air fryer? Grated parmesan on your pasta? Done, done, and done. (And you never have to say "when"!!)

    Emma Lord/BuzzFeed, Amazon

I purchased this because it was my cheapest option for making zoodles, and also because my old apartment was the size of a shoebox and there was no room for anything bigger. I LOVE how easy it is to swap out the caps to do other things, too — I've started grating my own cheeses and feel very fancy. But mostly I just love that it's very safe to use (it comes with a finger guard!), super easy to figure out, very compact, and even has measurements on the inside of the cup if you're ever portioning things out for a recipe.

Promising review: "LOVE THIS. I absolutely love this. So far I've used the thicker spiralizer, two of the grater things, and then the juicer. I love how easy this makes keeping everything together. And it's sharp so it actually cuts through things without you needing to work super hard to do it. The only thing I don't love is that the spiralizers are a bit hard to clean, but I guess that's with all of them? Not sure, this is the first I've owned. But, overall, I'd recommend it :)." —Amazon Customer

Promising review: "I used this product for my stove because it's one thing I dislike cleaning. I have used multiple degreaser sprays and they all are so toxic and don't work for me. The Magic Eraser was okay but I used several at a time and I had to scrub so hard. But this product, oh my goodness, legit a miracle. It doesn't have any type of smell. I put the paste on a cloth, clean the area, then wipe it off with a damp cloth and voilà, magic!" —May

When I looked that up, the online advice said that can happen if it gets too dirty and gave advice on running the dishwasher with vinegar and other tricks. But I saw this and, being pleased with Affresh's machine cleaners I'd used on my clothes washer, decided to try it. It worked AMAZINGLY, in ONE try. My favorite thing about these is that it keeps my lettuce crisp and fresh for weeks, not days. I've been able to buy bunches of lettuce and keep them in the fridge for several weeks. I keep the second container for strawberries, asparagus, blueberries, etc. and it keeps them fresh for way longer now. Amazon

Promising review: "I don't want to get all gushy over a pasta maker, but man...I really love this gizmo! I try to limit my monthly food expenditures and the Fasta Pasta helps me work in at least one inexpensive pasta meal every week. If not more. First of all, I like spaghetti — either with normal Prego-type sauce or sometimes just with butter and Romano cheese sprinkled on. But I'm lazy and impatient and don't like things that take a long time to make, with a bunch of steps and a big cleanup afterwards. The Fasta Pasta is perfect for me. I get the exact amount of correctly measured spaghetti; it's faster than boiling water in a big pot then having to watch and stir the pasta; the pasta comes out perfectly cooked every time; and the cleanup is a snap. No big pot; no colander; no spaghetti fork to lift out the pasta. Just the easy-to-clean Fasta Pasta and a pot to heat up the sauce. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!" —Smilin Sam

Promising review: "I was constantly having to unplug something in my kitchen to make room for charging my iPhone or watch or using the slow cooker or any of the other half-dozen things I wanted to use at the most convenient spot in the house...the kitchen counter. My 140-year-old house has a distinct shortage of outlets in the kitchen, so this product looked like a good option. It exceeded my expectations and has made my electronic life much simpler. Features that I love other than the excellent number of outlet options it gives are that it screws into place (so it doesn’t pull out of the outlet when you try to unplug something), the versatility of having the USB ports, and the light feature that I appreciate a stupid amount. Yeah, the light switch is right next to it on the wall, but who wants to flip on a light just to plug something in? So basically the price was great, it arrived quickly, and it looks nice. I have a cordless phone plugged in, plus an Echo Show, my Apple Watch charger, my iPad, and an iPhone plugged in, with outlets to spare. I’ll run out of counter space before I run out of outlets." —HappyCarnivore

I've owned one of these babies and have faithfully used it every week for upward of two years, and especially love it during quarantine — it simplifies breakfast because I know no matter what weird assortment of groceries I'm working with, there are precooked eggs to add some protein to it (I like mine medium-boiled 🍳). If my dinner is boring or seems like it needs a little extra "oomph" to it, I'll throw in an egg from this too. Some reviews note that the alarm on it is a little loud, but the new models have significantly decreased the volume and sing a little song instead!

Promising review: "You know those objects that are totally unnecessary, but you see them and fall in love and live forever in happiness with your random kitschy thing? This is that thing. I saw this egg cooker on a BuzzFeed list and, even though I am a fully functioning adult who has never had trouble cooking eggs before in my life, I knew I had to have it. I have not been disappointed. It makes especially lovely, perfectly round omelets with minimal cleanup required. Hard- and soft-boiled eggs cook evenly and taste great. 30. A bottle of wood polish that will make your all your scuffed-up kitchen cabinets and hardwood floors look brand spanking new, even if you're pretty sure the damage is older than you are.

A damaged wood cabinet in a before pic, and an after pic without any scratches or wear and tear
    amazon.com

Promising review: "Our kitchen cabinets had the finish nearly worn off of them as well as many scratch marks from a dog that previously lived here. It made them look dirty and faded and gave our whole kitchen a very gross feel. I had my doubts that something could work this well but saw some people's photos and thought I would give it a try. It really does work! It doesn't remove the scratches, but blends the colors so you can't see them as well. It was very easy to apply. Just wipe it on with the grain of the wood and then wipe it dry. The results are immediate. It's very satisfying to see something old and faded come to life again. I've refinished wood furniture before and know how time consuming that can be. I wish I'd known about this stuff a long time ago! You can see in the before photo, I just did one cabinet door (the left one) and got a picture so you could see the comparison side by side." —Jessica

It’s so handy and easy to roll up part or all of it when you need to access part or all of the sink bowl. I have a standard double-bowl stainless drop-in sink; I measured carefully to get the right size so it exactly covers the entire one bowl. It actually makes my ordinary sink look a little more high end, so I’ll probably leave it out all the time! Would rate 10 stars if I could!" —joan purdie

A miracle product that actually does what it says, remarkable!!!" —Desiree Barlow

    33. A popular pan shelf to instantly organize all those old cabinets that are basically just an unhelpful void of space you keep shoving things into and hoping they don't fall back out on your feet.

A rack holding up five different sizes pans in a cabinet
    Amazon

Promising review: "We have old cupboards, without the drawers that pull out to make access easier. Before we got this rack, our pots and pans were a jumble in a cupboard beneath the cooktop. We have so much more space now that the skillets are stacked on this rack. A side benefit is that the nonstick pans don't get scratched because they aren't stacked inside one another. We love it." —Susan E.

    34. A ridiculously popular (like, over 79,000 positive reviews) Lodge pre-seasoned cast-iron skillet you can use to sauté, sear, bake, broil, braise, fry, *or* grill. It's also built to last for decades, whether you're using it on the reg in the oven to make pillowy biscuits or on the stove to make the kind of steak that'll waft through your whole house.

    Amazon

Promising review: "I love this skillet! I've used it on the stove — gas and electric (on glass tops do not drag this skillet on it, it will scratch the glass) — as well as over fire outdoors. I've owned it for eight months now and it still looks as new as it did eight months ago. Make sure to research how to clean your cast iron cookware and always heat them up to evaporate any surface moisture after cleaning before oiling. I've made many different foods in this, Utica greens, bacon, eggs, steak, pizza...etc. All have come out perfect. Be aware this skillet is huge so make sure you have room to store it and it is also heavy... About 12 pounds I think, so my wife does have trouble moving it, I also need two hands to carry the sucker especially when it's loaded with food! I would say I would buy this again, but I see this skillet lasting forever!" —Tinkerman

    35. A handy fridge deodorizer to finally get rid of that slightly ~off~ smell your fridge keeps getting no matter how many times you go to clown town cleaning it out.

A white deodorizer on a fridge shelf
    Amazon

This deodorizer lasts up to six months, and also helps keep produce fresher for longer. The company claims it's six times more effective than baking soda — a ton of reviewers mentioned they'd tried the baking soda method and failed, but that this worked like a charm!

Promising review: "OMG THIS THING ACTUALLY WORKS!!! I moved into my new apartment two months ago. When I first moved in I opened the freezer and fridge to sanitize since I have no idea if the previous tenants did, and boy oh boy when I opened it up... I got smacked in the face with the smell of old moldy food! I bleached it and decided to wait a day. Tried again the next day and the smell was still there. I bought some baking soda and put it in the fridge thinking it would solve it. Welp, it DIDN’T! Tried charcoal, tried taking bits apart and deep-cleaning them and nothing worked. I got the two-pack and as soon as they came this morning I placed one in the fridge and one in my freezer. In an hour I noticed a difference. Went out to run some errands and when I got back home tonight I opened the fridge and noticed I couldn’t smell anything coming from it!" —Zoraida Gunter

Promising review: "I bought the gloves because I had two nasty cuts in quick succession from a cheese grater. Anyone who has had injuries to their fingers knows how difficult it is to continue to do everyday activities and meal preparation while still protecting your wound. I received the gloves quickly after my order and pressed them into use immediately that evening. I am most impressed. My fingers/hands were protected from my very sharp grater and knife while I prepared dinner. I bought two pairs, one to keep and one to give as a gift. I am now going to buy a third pair in a larger size for a friend who also likes to cook but suffers from occasional run-ins with mandolines, graters, and knives. Great product!" —O'Hare

Two small metal shelves stacked on each other in a cabinet
    Amazon

Promising review: "Let me start by saying that I’m not one to post a review about anything. I just ordered two sets of these and they transformed my pantry in the blink of an eye! They are high enough to accommodate my short basket full of half baggies of noodles and grains, and durable enough to hold any assortment of vinegars and home-can goods. I ordered two sets (four shelves) and plan on buying more for the rest of my sloppy kitchen." —V

    40. An internet-beloved two-cup OXO measuring cup with transparent measurements on the side *and* angled in the middle so you can see exactly how much you're measuring from a bird's-eye view.

The transparent angled measuring cup with a black gripped handle and oil inside
    Amazon

It also comes equipped with a soft-grip handle and a deeply convenient angled nozzle, and is dishwasher-safe!

Promising review: "Our old liquid measuring cups were beginning to get worn and very hard to read. I had seen these angled measuring cups before and wanted to give them a try, so I bought two (2-cup versions) to replace our existing cups. I've only gotten to use them a handful of times, but I can already tell you they are better than traditional measuring cups. I have good eyesight, so reading a traditional measuring cup isn't a problem. However, I've always disliked having to lean over to watch the cup fill up, or start/stop filling to make sure I have what I need. With the overhead reading, I can pour my liquid in and know exactly when to stop. In my opinion, this is the only way measuring cups should be made in the future." —SK

Promising review: "There was really no place in my kitchen to hang dish towels, except for the oven handles. I got one of these to try on the cabinet door. The brushed finish is sort of neutral and does not stand out. The first one worked out so well that I ordered another 14-inch and two of the next-smaller size, so that I can now hang four dish towels (or dish cloths) without using the oven. I am very happy with these, wish I had gotten them sooner." —Mamachills

Promising review: "Love love love this. Have used other products but they were not only complicated to use but did not do a great job. This one really works well and is very simple to use! I have used the same metal mug for my morning coffee for about three years now and it got really stained. I used this product one time and the stains were removed. The coffee maker looks like new again. Soooo happy! Going to buy some for my son and will rebuy this for sure! The price is most reasonable also. Win/Win." —pennywrites
