    1. CeraVe's Hydrating cleanser made with hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and glycerin โ€” aka, all the good stuff to hydrate your face and remove makeup and oil without stripping your skin of its natural moisture. Psst โ€” a lot of reviewers with sensitive skin and acne swear by this, because it's super gentle *and* super effective.

Before and after image of reviewer with cystic acne and without

Promising review: "I will never use anything else to wash my face again. I have been using this for about two months โ€”ย prior to that I had tried just about everything on the market, including the big name acne cleansers that just seem to aggravate my skin more. I have always had acne prone skin but now in my forties it's been worse than ever. About four months ago I developed psoriasis on my face as well as the cystic acne that I had been dealing with. I wasn't a huge fan at first as this has a much different feel than most cleansers and even Cetaphil (which didn't work for me either). After two months of using this I can say that both the acne and psoriasis have cleared and my skin's texture seems to be changing as well. Grateful for such a wonderful and reasonably priced product!" โ€”bzmomof2ny

    2. A pair of affordable, super versatile open-toed sandals with arch-supporting, fully-cushioned soles so comfy you'll want to live in them all summer long.,

Psst โ€” a whole bunch of reviewers compare these to Birkenstocks, saying they're not only more affordable, but even comfier!

Promising review: "Relief! I have high arches and have developed something like plantar fasciitis now that I'm in my mid-forties. Didn't want to spend the money on the comparable Birkenstocks, even though I highly trust that brand. So glad I tried these first! Can't believe the price. And when I can't stand being barefoot or any other shoes, these are my go to. Wonderful!" โ€”DB

Get it from Amazon for $24.99 (available in women's sizes 5-12, including wide sizes, as well as 12 colors).

    3. A roll-on migraine stick made with peppermint, spearmint, and lavender oils to help you soothe away migraines and headaches, which frankly have a lot of audacity interrupting your day.

Reviewer holding lip balm-sized tube of roll on migraine stick

Promising review: "I started getting migraines in my forties with the onset of hormone changes. Migraines were new to me and I needed to figure out how to handle them when they came. This stick is now a trusted part of my arsenal. It works. I used to have a migraine every month, but now I use this at the first sign, and they donโ€™t progress. Itโ€™s weird, but It works for me." โ€”Bryn

    4. Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind concealer, an inexpensive lightweight concealer for anyone who wants to quickly touch up before Zoom calls or walks around the neighborhood, but doesn't want to commit to a whole layer of foundation. This also helps cover dark circles without caking and reduce puffiness.

    Kayla Suazo / BuzzFeed

TBH, last year I started using this myself (although this is BuzzFeed editor Kayla Suazo's lovely human face above), and I am mad that I wasted time with other concealers for so long. I am a deeply impatient person who likes to look good and does not like to put in effort in any way, shape, or form, and Maybelline created this so that people like me could gracelessly slap it on in the morning and be like "OKAY, REFLECTION, YOU GOT THIS" before being on their merry way. It never cakes, I look way more awake than I have any right to, and I never struggle to blend it the way I do with other concealers. 11/10 subscribe.

Promising review: "I now have a new under-eye concealer. As I get older (I'm 40) I am noticing a little blue under my eyes. I sleep well. I've tried a lot of products and most will look unnatural or cakey. I decided to try this after reading a woman's blog who recommended it. She is my hero. Dark circles are instantly gone when I apply this. This product stays on all day too. I never need to reapply. The tube is convenient and is made so that none of the product gets wasted. You twist what you need to the surface sponge and apply. The surface sponge stays moist with product too so you don't need twist often, making the concealer last longer. I will continue to buy this one for sure." โ€”phillygrl

    5. A pair of compression gloves designed to help alleviate pain from carpal tunnel and arthritis, so you can type at your keyboard without an internal monologue of "ow OW ow owwwww" for the majority of your workday.

Reviewer with gray fingerless compression gloves on hands

Promising review: "I am in my forties and was recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my hands and feet. Total bummer. I donโ€™t want to take medication unless absolutely necessary, so I have been searching out other forms of relief from the pain and stiffness. I added these compression gloves to the mix, and they are very helpful. The gloves have a good range of motion and provide great compression support. They have been especially helpful when I do yard work, and I also plan to use them for an interior painting project. Itโ€™s very hot where I live, so I donโ€™t currently wear them every day. However, I know I will wear them frequently during fall and winter. Highly recommend for anyone looking for medication alternatives to arthritis!" โ€”cb4iast8

Get a pair from Amazon for $15.97 (available in three sizes).

    6. Plus a compression foot sleeve to help manage heel pain and plantar fasciitis that you can sneakily wear right under your socks. The compression is so effective that even reviewers with chronic pain swear by them!

Reviewer in a black compression sock that covers from the bottom of the toes to the top of the ankle

Promising review: "I'm in my late forties and I have been experiencing plantar fasciitis since the beginning of 2020. I spent money on gel arch supports and heel inserts specifically for plantar fasciitis. The inserts have kept me from dying, but the heel pain is still around โ€”ย so much so that when I get up in the mornings, it takes a bit for me to walk 'normal' due to the pain. I couldn't put up with it any more and two days ago, I researched Amazon for the highest rated 'plantar fasciitis' solution and found these socks. I put them on immediately (not tight at all). I was sitting for about an hour doing some work on the computer then got up to do some things around the house. I was SHOCKED (I'm not kidding about my reaction) that the pain was barely there. I got up 'quickly' and walked as if the heels of my feet had not been killing me but only two hours earlier! I'd say that the improvement from pain to less pain so far is at about 60% better โ€” maybe even higher." โ€”Patita

Get a pair from Amazon for $14.95 (available in four sizes and nine colors).

    7. *And* a spiky massage ball meant to be a quick-fix solution for plantar fasciitis that also works on other muscle groups.

Promising review: "I use this every morning before I get out of bed or I have extreme pain and difficulty walking. I will hobble and could use a cane or walker due to the planter fasciitis (I'm in my forties ๐Ÿ˜’). I also use the message ball post a long day on my feet and after sitting for a few hours. Typical planter fasciitis symptoms and treatments. A lot less expensive than the doctors bills and medications!" โ€”Whovian

Get it from Amazon for $7.97.

    8. A memory foam seat cushion for your tushy so effective at relieving pressure from your tailbone that you'll finally stop losing sleep over your love-hate relationship with your desk chair.

A reviewer's swivel office chair with a memory foam cushion resting on it

People also swear by this for long car rides!

Promising review: "ABSOLUTELY best support cushion I've used! We have so many aids/cushions/creams/new beds every three years, and an endless amount of physical therapy devices I've purchased online or even online with a prescription and nothing I've got has ever just, 'WORKED!' right out if the box. It wasn't a cushion that sat awkward in the chair, I didn't feel like I was fortysomething going on 90, and it didn't feel like 'it will probably keep my tailbone part from not feeling as bad' โ€” NOPE, THIS CUSHION INSTANTLY CRADLED MY BODY IN A WAY THAT SUPPORTED FAR MORE THAN MY TAILBONE!! I always have to get up so careful to lean forward and release my coccyx pressure first, before I can even get up. THIS PILLOW TRULY KEEPS ALL PRESSURE OFF MY COCCYX AND SPINE. I plan on getting a few more to have several places. This is truly an item worth far more than its retail price The science in the design, material, and shape are stellar!" โ€”J-licious

Get it from Amazon for $30.95 (get this price by clicking the "20% off coupon" on the product page).

    9. A reviewer-beloved anti-dandruff shampoo to relieve flaking and itching and help prevent outbreaks by getting directly to the root. A lot of reviewers mention that it not only started working from the first use, but it *also* helped with shedding and hair loss caused by dandruff in the first place.

before and after image of reviewer with dandruff on their scalp and without

This shampoo was designed to work for sensitive scalps, color-dyed, and chemically processed hair as well as for all hair types and textures, with reviewers with 3b-4c curls mentioning it worked for them.

Promising review: "After suddenly developing dandruff in my forties, and trying other medicated shampoos, this one knocked it out in two days! I use it about once a week for maintenance, and a tea tree oil shampoo in between. Very happy with personal results. Smells good, too." โ€”rebeljack78

Get it from Amazon for $14.84.

    10. Plus a shampoo scalp massager you can use in the shower to massage and exfoliate your scalp, so you can get all of the relaxing decadence of feeling like someone is massaging your head without physically going to a salon. Psst โ€” a lot of reviewers mention this has also helped with psoriasis, dandruff, and scalp tenderness!

    Emma Lord/BuzzFeed

I recently started using one of these and WOWZA, it really helps you get extra mileage out of your shampoo. I have a whole lot of hair on my head so sometimes it's a struggle to feel like I've soaped up my whole scalp thorough, but this was a very effective way to spread out the suds and really get them to the roots. I was worried it might tangle in my hair, but it was totally fine on that front, too. I've noticed that my hair has been a little less greasy at the roots since I started using it. And I'm echoing a ton of reviewers here when I say it just feels reeeeeally, really nice.

Promising review: "I am a guy and I want to keep my hair for my entire life. Now I'm in my mid-forties and just started noticing more hair pulled off after washing my hair. It's said that you should lightly massage the head with keeping fingers on the same spot to wash the hair, instead of making continuous rubbing action as you'd do normally. In that soft way to wash the hair, I could prevent pulling a lot of hair, but it doesn't feel thoroughly washing hair. In fact, I get more dandruff in this way. This scalp massager is just perfect to wash the hair without pulling excess hair off. It feels like having my hair washed at a good hair salon. It's a simple tool but works pretty darn good for me." โ€”E

Get it from Amazon for $7.58+ (available in three colors).

    11. A suuuper popular Bio-Oil made with vitamins A and E, chamomile, and lavender โ€” you may recognize it as a product a lot of people use to help fade scars (both old and new), soothe cracked and dry skin, and help moisturize without affecting your pores, but people are also using it in quarantine to help with dry and painful skin on their hands from hand-washing and sanitizing.

A model rubbing bio-oil on their hands

FWIW re: scars, though, this stuff really works. I had thyroid surgery a few years ago and Bio-Oil took me from looking like I'd stumbled out of the Red Wedding to virtually no detectable scar within a few months. All I did was apply it once in the morning and once at night.

Promising review: "I noticed my skin started to get dry and tight after I took a shower, especially in the winter time. I used to use expensive creams like Clinique but it didn't seem like it was enough. I saw this at Costco at a very reasonable price compared to what I was paying at Macy's so I thought I'd try it out. Just a couple of drops and my face immediately felt soft and supple! This lasted throughout the day and two little drops covered my face and neck area. Gradually after a few months, friends and acquaintances would comment how pretty my skin was (I'm in my late forties and Native American). If you use more than two or three drops on your face and neck, you're using too much. One bottle lasted me six months or more. Costco no longer carries this and after making do with Aveeno facial moisturizer, it is no substitute to what Bio-Oil does for me." โ€”Lynn La Pointe

Get it from Amazon for $8.89 (available in three sizes).

    12. An internet password logbook because honestly there is no text more annoying to send than the "What's the Hulu password again???" that you blast out to your family every time your browser restarts.,

Promising review: "I'm in my mid-forties, and with a gazillion internet accounts to have to keep track of, my memory simply isn't enough anymore. Also, what happens if something happens to me? My husband and sons would have a hell of a time trying to crack my accounts. I know we did when my father died several years ago. We still can't figure out some of his passwords for his email accounts. So I bought this. I entered everything I knew (and I update it when I discover another account I forgot) and for extra security we keep it in our family safe. Use a pencil so when you update passwords it's easy to change it out." โ€”Am Azon Woman

Get it from Amazon for $7.95.

    13. A pair of ridiculously comfortable pull-on Levi's jeans for anyone else who just wants their legs to feel that sweet, sweet unconstricted FREEDOM. These will make you want to throw your regular jeans out the window.,

Promising review: "I have now bought four pairs of these, and they are seriously my favorite pandemic jeans. They look like 'real' jeans (the material is woven, not knit) but the elastic waist makes them extra comfortable. I'm in my forties, I've had two kids, and I usually wear an 18 in jeans. I'm an 18 in these. I have gotten the long inseam on them all, and it hits the top of my foot. I can roll it up for a shorter/summer look. I like them more snug. Wear/care: I wash these in cold and dry them in the dryer. If they shrunk at all, it wasn't noticeable. Cons: the only thing these are missing is front pockets, but for this price and for how much I love them, it isn't a dealbreaker. There are functional back pockets that can hold my phone." โ€”A. Mather

Get it from Amazon for $24.99 (available in women's sizes 2-28, three inseams, and six colors).

    14. A knee pillow designed to help with better spinal alignment for people with back, hip, knee, or sciatica pain that will make any notorious side sleeper go "Ooohhh" when they try it for the first time.

It even comes with an adjustable strap if you're someone who tosses and turns in their sleep (or if you're using it to recover from an injury that may lead to limited mobility). Psst โ€” a lot of pregnant reviewers and reviewers with arthritis pain and cartilage pain swore by this, too!

Promising review: "I'm 49 and a life long athlete and fitness trainer. I train a lot, and I also spend a great deal of time driving. I am struggling with piriformis syndrome in my right leg, plus have an old knee injury in my left leg. I also sleep only on my side at night. Sleeping with a pillow above my knees has worked okay and has helped but it is hard keeping it in place. I bought this to try, and it's awesome! It stays in place, is very comfortable, has helped my issues in reducing stress in my legs enormously. It was a little thicker than I expected it to be and took a little getting used to, but now it's great. Having the strap has been really helpful because it stays in place when I switch from sleeping on my one side to my other side during the night." โ€”Christine T. Mitchell

Get it from Amazon for $21.95.

    15. A set of itty bitty dermaplaning razors you can use to take care of those lil' unibrow hairs that keep dodging your tweezers or work whatever face fuzzies you might want to take care of in a gentle way.

This tool also helps soften skin by gently exfoliating as you use it!

Promising review: "I got so sick and tired of waxing my chin that I broke down and bought this. Paid top dollar for a so-called 'dermaplaning sesh' at a spa for $90 only to realize I'd been had when I found these. At least I can shave myself in the morning without the harsh yank of waxing or plucking. At my age (mid-forties), I don't feel good about stressing my face with the yank of waxing and last time I was waxed at some cheap place on the corner, they burned my lip. Never again with these. This I can do at home discreetly and the price is right, too." โ€”HoundMama

Get a set of three from Amazon for $4.99.

    16. Plus an ear and nose hair trimmer with a quick lil' one button designed to easily and painlessly get rid of hair not just on your ears and nose, but also on your eyebrows, beard, or face. Take THAT, tweezers!!

Reviewer holding black small wand-shaped trimmer with metal end and transparent cap

Promising review: "You know when you're a teenager and you have acne and pimples? Then the good years come in your twenties and thirties and all that is a thing of the past? Now I am in my forties and yes the pimples are still gone but my god what's up with the long thick nose and ear hairs? I tried pulling them, waxing them and if I was in a real hurry just taking my razor to them. In the end they always grow back quicker and quicker. I was finally fed up and purchased this nose trimmer. Why did I wait so long!!! Within seconds nose hairs were gone like a freshly manicured lawn. This is a must have only takes 1 AA Battery and gets the job done within seconds. Purchase of the year." โ€”Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $12.99.

    17. A comfortable, well-constructed one-piece swimsuit for anyone who's *constantly* on the move on the beach and needs a suit that will deliver on both durability and style.,

Promising review: "Well made, accurate sizing and CUTE! Every influencer was right, this was a perfect fit! Iโ€™m in my forties. Comfortable to get on and wear! I ordered my usual size with no problem and the suit came in quickly." โ€”Sabian

Get it from Amazon for $31.99 (available in women's sizes 4-16 and 41 styles).

    18. Or a delightfully frilly tankini swimsuit if your summer vibe is more "beach, but make it fashion.",

Promising review: "Very pleased! This is the first time in my life (I'll be 41) ordering a swimsuit online because it takes me months to find something that not only fits well, but that I'm comfortable in. This is so cute and so comfortable! The shorts look small but they have amazing stretch and they sit higher. The top covers your entire front and backside. I'm a D cup and there isn't underwire but once you tighten the straps it's totally fine. I'm ordering another as we speak!" โ€”Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $18.99+ (available in women's sizes L-24 Plus and 15 styles).

    19. Plus a delightfully chic beach cover-up that'll quickly become your summer mainstay, both because it's easy to style and because it's lightweight enough to withstand the heat.,

Promising review: "This cover-up is so great that I came back to buy an additional color. I bought the black first and recently bought the white. It is lightweight, cool, and the fabric is soft. Looks very chic but also functional as a coverup. Fit as expected. I wanted it a bit loose so I bought a size up and it's perfect. Very comfortable. Dries comfortably. You won't roast while you're wearing it. You could easily throw this on over your suit to go out for a meal or do some shopping at the beach. Highly recommend. I'm a mom of three in my early forties but I think this would work for any age. It's super cute with cute flip flops and a big hat and sunglasses." โ€”D. Moore

Get it from Amazon for $15.99+ (available in women's sizes S-3XL and 39 colors).

    20. Essence's Lash Princess mascara for instant length so effective you'll be fluttering your own lashes at your reflection in the mirror for half the morning.

    Emma Lord/BuzzFeed

Hello, that is my face above, because I bought into the hype of over 115,000 five-star reviews and now I will never look back!! Putting it on is like giving my eyelashes butterfly wings. It doesn't get clumpy, it stays put ALL the live long day (I spent all of this ridiculously hot pandemic summer wearing it, so I can speak to that), and you can apply it on very lightly if you don't want it to look so dramatic, or continue applying for longer lashes each time. You can read BuzzFeed's review of Essence's Lash Princess Mascara for more deets!

Promising review: "I love love this mascara. The price is amazing. It's not totally water resistant but if your eyes slightly run due to allergies or ya get a sniffle you're not going to look like a raccoon. With that being said, you may have to use just a lil extra effort to remove, not much though. It gives my lashes a thick long look I haven't had since I was a teenager (mid-forties here) and the best part is it doesn't get that crusty feel a lot of mascaras can leave. I love this so much that I'm buying them for friends, and the ones I've shared with so far love it too." โ€”Kris

Get it from Amazon for $4.99.

Psst โ€” reviewers also love the matching volume boosting primer for $4.99!

    21. An ultra-cooling bamboo fabric sleep set for anyone who is sick of waking up in the middle of the night feeling like a human furnace.

A model in a maroon pajama set with shorts and a v-neck tee

Promising review: "These are the ones I have been searching for! I have not been sweating at all since I started wearing them (I'm 49 and get hot flashes during the night) or at least waking up with damp clothes. The only thing I don't like is that they take forever to air dry because of the pocket construction. Other than that they seem well made and are super comfortable! I'm getting a second pair so I can rotate them for plenty of drying time." โ€”Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $21.99+ (available in women's sizes S-4X and 10 colors).

    22. A vitamin C-based face serum for brighter, firmer skin with muuuuch faster results than most of its competitors. A lot of reviewers could see a difference within just a few days of use.

Before and after image of reviewer with more refreshed skin after use

Promising review: "I've used this at night for 30 days. I didn't do a before/after, but I can honestly say that when my kid took a picture of me the other day, it looked like he added a filter. Literally my skin looks RIDICULOUSLY better. I'm 40. I grew up a beach baby and live in Las Vegas now. I'm in the sun daily. I swear on 37 Bibles that this stuff has easily taken off 10 years from my face. Literally. It could be because it is SO dry here. I'm sold for life." โ€”Curious George

Get it from Amazon for $19.99.

    23. A pair of New Balance FuelCore Nergize V1 Sneakers with lightweight memory sole inserts to keep your feet nice and comfy *without* weighing them down, and mesh in the upper foot for breathability.,

Promising review: "Omg my back doesn't hurt anymore!! I'm so happy. A week ago I ordered a known brand and my back ached. I decided on this New Balance with this sleek look and couldn't believe it โ€” no more back pain with this memory foam inside the shoe. Recommending at my age, late forties. Nice stylish shoe with comfort." โ€”Andrea Bell

Get it from Amazon for $41.59+ (available in women's sizes 5-12 and in wide sizes, plus 32 styles).

    24. Plus a pair of no-tie "lock laces" for your shoes that basically turn any laced shoe into a slip-on one, because honestly, who has the time to keep untying and retying those babies when half your mornings are spent sprinting out the door? Bonus: these are one-size-fits-all, including kids, so you can outfit the whole fam.

A pair of sneakers with black bungee-like "lock laces" in the shoe lace straps

A lot of runners and athletes also swear by these for training and races, since it's a guarantee their shoes won't come untied (and it also helps distribute the tension through the entire top of your foot, preventing localized injuries for longer runs!). You can also adjust the tension easily if your feet are more swollen on a particular day.

Promising review: "Purchased two pair for my running shoes (49-year-old male). They work very well, have put a bunch of miles on them. No more tying/untying, just slip on. I like how they keep unified tension across the entire laces from top to bottom. I have had no issues with the lace lock at all, it snapped in well." โ€”Scott

Get it from Amazon for $8.99 (available in 13 colors).

    25. A popular pair of standard compressive high-waisted bike shorts with deep pockets that come in so many colors and lengths that you'll probably be coming back for a second and third pair after buying your first.

These have over 30,000 5-star reviews on Amazon, with reviewers mentioning the convenience of the pockets and how "squat-proof" they are. And full disclosure, I bought a pair of these last year for at-home workouts and runs around my neighborhood, and I love them so much that I may never wear real pants again. They're just the right balance between compressive and comfy, they wash really well, and they have held up beautifully over time.

Promising review: "Iโ€™ve struggled with thigh chafing all my life. Iโ€™m now 45. I just went on hot humid three mile run and complete comfort with no ride up. Ordering in all colors and tossing my old running shorts!" โ€”Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $19.99+ (available in women's sizes XS-5XL and 42 styles).

    26. A knee stabilizer band for knee pain relief both in the short term *and* long term, whether you get it from running, hiking, team sports, or jumping up and down every time you hear a Bruno Mars song start playing at a wedding reception.,

Promising review: "I played tennis when I was younger. Now I'm in my forties and when I run on hills, my right knee hurts. I read the reviews for this product and decided to give it a try. It works great! I put this on when I go for walks or runs and the pain is gone! It is easy to put on and take off. I hand wash it and air dry it. It comes in a pack of two. I only needed one so I gave one to my mom! If you have knee pain, you need to try this product!" โ€”Priya Desai

Get a set of two from Amazon for $13.88 (available in three colors).

    27. Glossier's Cloud Paint blush, a true staple for any busy person's beauty arsenal. It's thick enough for a noticeable glow, but subtle enough that you don't have to be super precise about it, so there's no overthinking your routine.

Promising review: "This is my favorite blush to use. It's very natural looking and I like that it's buildable. Storm is a very pretty berry color but apply it with a light hand as it's more pigmented than some of the other colors. I would definitely recommend it!" โ€”Laura B. 28. A set of super comfy wax ear plugs that mold to the shape of your inner ear like putty, fully blocking out all surrounding hullabaloo so you can get your beauty rest *without* making the insides of your ear sore.

TBH, I swear by these so aggressively that I have them on a subscription. They're like ear glue. My apartment is on a busy street and my upstairs neighbor is a noisy human being (does this count as a subtweet??) and once I pop these babies in I can barely hear a thing. Plus, my ears never get sore with these in like they do with headphones or other earplugs.

Promising review: "At first, I didn't understand how these gummy ear plugs would work. But I have had some of the BEST sleep in a long time thanks to them. I think as I get older (45) and with kids (2), it just seems harder to sleep soundly and for an entire night. These are seeming to change things around for me. I am not in love with the gummy feeling of them, but the benefit far outweighs the strange feel of them. I am getting around seven nights wear out of one set of plugs. More expensive than others, but they work so well!!" โ€”Jaimielaura

Get a pack of six pairs from Amazon for $3.96.

    29. L'Oreal Paris's Magic Root Cover-Up spray for anyone who wants a quick fix without the whole song and dance of making a salon appointment every time they want to dye their roots. It's temporary, so it only lasts through your next shampoo, but it's designed not to leave any residue on pillows or fabric in the meantime!

Reviewer before and after pic with gray roots in their hair that are then brown to match the rest of their hair

Promising review: "Lightweight and great coverage on grey/white roots. Bought dark blonde and is more of a light brown; but works well with my highlight/low lights. Iโ€™m horrible about getting hair done every two months. I usually go four to give months between colorings and save time and money. Iโ€™m 49 and have about two inches of grey growth on each side of my part, so itโ€˜s actually four inches of grey roots on the top of my head. As long as you donโ€™t spray too close then it doesnโ€™t get heavy or sticky. I highly recommend this product." โ€”Michelle D.

    30. The Adventure Challenge, a little book full of a ton of adventures you can go on with your partner to shake up your usual routine. Each of the unique 50 challenges are designed for couples from the newly dating to the longterm, and ranges between $0 and $50 in budget. Afterward you can put in a photo and a blurb about the date as a keepsake โค๏ธ.

    The Adventure Challenge

Promising review (couples edition): "We have done about six of the dates so far. We have laughed harder than we have in a long time. I have been touched by the thought that went into each of the dates. It is clear that they are not just thrown together, there is a purpose behind each of the 'rules' of the date. I would say if I had made up the dates my husband would have balked, so it helps to have it be from a third party with the requirement to commit. There has not been a date so far that we haven't thoroughly enjoyed and benefitted from. My husband LOVES it and has wanted to do several dates in a weekend (our original goal was to do one a week). For perspective we are in our forties and have been married for 22 years. It has been a bit reminiscent of our early dating years and reminded us to be more adventurous. So fun to shake it up! The only way you get the benefit is if you fully commit and go for it. Break out of your self-made boundaries! You strengthen your bond by shared experiences that invoke emotion: laughter, uncertainty, vulnerability in trying new things." โ€”Terrell

Psst โ€” there are other versions of The Adventure Challenge for family, friends, and even solo travelers, if you want to peruse your options!

Get it from The Adventure Challenge for $39.99 (or with the bundle pack for $147.99 that comes with their signature camera).

    31. A painless, mint-flavored teeth-whitening pen for sensitive teeth and gums that can help lighten up years' worth of stains from coffee, tea, wine, or just ... you know. Existing as a human with teeth.

    Emma Lord/BuzzFeed

^^ That is my human face making that awkward "look at my teeth!!" grimace up there. I am very vigilant about using teeth whitening toothpaste twice a day, but it's truly no match for my tea/dessert consumption, I suppose. I used this pen maybe five times over the course of a week in between the before and after on this (you're supposed to use it more often than that, but I am lazy and forgetful). It didn't irritate my gums and all, it doesn't have a weird after taste, and it's also just, like. FAST. I wasn't expecting to see results so quickly. I use the pen once or twice a week now just to maintain it. Very little hassle and extremely worth the money.

Promising review: "This teeth whitening pen works. I have 48-year-old teeth and all of the coffee, diet coke, and my age really have taken a toll, but this teeth whitening pen really works. And it doesn't taste bad at all! The price was right and I got two pens as well! Buy without hesitation!" โ€”Dr. Ted H. Omura

    32. A bottle of tea tree essential oil that reviewers use for a whole bundle of reasons, including to help soothe red patches, acne, inflammation, and irritation on their skin.

    Reviewer holding small 30ml bottle

Reviewers also use it to help cleanse buildup on their scalps, prevent dryness, strengthen their nail beds, and just generally ~breathe in~ because it smells so darn relaxing.

Promising review: "We use it for acne. We're in our forties and still get occasional pimples. We use this tea tree oil to treat them. It clears most pimples up in 1-2 days, with no scabbing or scarring. They just go away. We love it!" โ€”Jason M.

Get it fro Amazon for $8.95.

    33. Maybelline's Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil, an easy-to-use, subtle eyebrow filler just as effective as the ones triple its price.

A model with one eyebrow natural and the other eyebrow filled in and brushed

The tool comes with two ends, one a small eyebrow brush and the other a specially edged eyebrow pencil.

Promising review: "So since COVID and mask wearing, I've significantly reduced how much/what types of makeup I've been using. (Only using under eye concealer, eye brightener and mascara.) Instead I focus on a great skincare routine which has dramatically improved my skin (I'm 42 and this is HUGE for me), and I only use makeup on my eyes, and a ChapStick or tinted lip moisturizer. Prior to buying this, I didn't use anything on my brows because besides a couple barely noticeable spots where they were thinner, they're pretty okay. I bought this, just to try, because the price was great. This pencil is very forgiving. If you put on too much you can easily blend it in with the spool on the other end. I got the soft brown which was a perfect match. You can also wipe any off with your finger or a Q-tip if you get it on the skin above or below your brow. I do like the look of my eyes when I use the pencil to define my brows. I think my eyes look more striking and awake. I'll continue to use this product, and I would buy it again. The first day I got this, I tried it at night, forgot I had it on and went to sleep with it and when I woke up it was still intact. So I can say it's long wearing and didn't smudge at all!" โ€”ALP

    34. A foot file to remove calluses and hard or cracked skin from your feet with some gentle, pain-free rubbing. It works whether your feet are dry or wet at the time, and will leave your heels feeling gloriously soft.

Before image of a cracked foot with an after image of the skin smooth

Promising review: "I am in my forties and prone to calluses due to lots of walking, genetics, and perhaps not wearing the right footwear. I can't believe I've been wasting my time with tiny files and pumice stones (which is why I have almost never bothered in four decades). This file effortlessly takes the calluses right off. The flakes fall into the trash โ€” I used it dry โ€” with nothing stuck. Not like a cheese grater. I've been lazy about reviewing products recently, but I had to praise this right after trying it. Be gentle when you use this. Very little force needed." โ€”solid oak

    35. A long-lasting stainless-steel tongue scraper that'll help take care of odor-causing bacteria and soft plaque without irritating your gag reflex the way a spoon might. Reviewers are especially pleased with its durability after spending money to replace other flimsier versions.

Other reviewers note that this was effective enough that they didn't have to use mouthwash nearly as often to combat odors!

Promising review: "I was skeptical, but after the first use, I was sold. The motivation to use it twice a day (or more) was immediate, because it solved what mints, brushing mouthwash, etc. just never did: it eliminated my bad breath. If you've struggled with bad breath, like I have (for YEARS), get one of these. I wouldn't have believed it, but after scraping my tongue, I could immediately tell that my mouth was clean in a new way. That 'old taste' was gone. A toothbrush doesn't cut it โ€” it can't get back on the tongue like the scraper does. And this scraper gets stuff in a way that a toothbrush just won't. Trust me โ€” when you scrape your tongue, you'll see what I mean. For those with a sensitive 'gag reflex,' which I also have in spades, I've been using this scraper two times per day for a month and have gagged using it about three times, even though I'm touching further back on my tongue than I EVER did with a toothbrush (which never helped my breath significantly, I realize now). It's nothing now that my breath is fresh by getting rid of the bacteria that was actually causing the bad breath. I'm 44 and can't believe I'd never heard of a tongue scraper until now. I've bought two additional ones to give to family members." โ€”CODreamer

    36. A pair of comfy period-proof underwear designed to hold two tampons' worth of period blood that are a *great* alternative to walking around with uncomfy, bulky pads (or worrying about tampon leakage).

    A reviewer in black underwear

They're also ideal for overnight protection (you can pair them with a pad if you have a heavy flow) and for people who are worried about leakage during sports or physical activities. I personally always wear either these period-proof undies when I go on runs on my period, and it has been a MASSIVE godsend. Also, unlike your regular undies, you don't have to scrub the blood out of these. They're designed so it rinses right out in the sink with soap and warm water, and can get tossed in the washer and dryer from there.

Psst โ€”ย reviewers love these undies, but suggest sizing up!

Promising review: "I'm sold. I can't believe I spent so many years worrying and dealing with stained sheets. Since I turned 40+, my periods are so heavy and intense, I had double pads and a towel under me in bed. The first night I had a night pad and these on. It didn't matter that I bled beyond the pad, these underwear absorbed the overflow and protect my bed. It was the first time in years I could sleep peacefully. I'm getting more." โ€”Maccae

    37. A Squatty Potty, one of those internet-famous stools you can put at the base of your toilet to prop your feet up on while you ~go~. The placement helps align your colon to make the process a whole lot easier and faster โ€” like, 20 seconds compared to several minutes! โ€” so you don't end up reading half a novel waiting yourself out.

A model sitting on the toilet with their feet propped up on the white stool underneath it

Psst โ€” a lot of reviewers with chronic constipation and other gastrointestinal issues that get them ~backed up~ swear by this!

Promising review: "I got this because I had read some science supporting the idea that humans are meant to defecate in a squatting position. You actually can buy specialty toilets with built-in foot pads at great expense โ€”ย or you can get the Squatty Potty. I am a 40-ish woman who has never had trouble with #2 โ€”ย but now everything comes out much faster. What the other reviewers says is true: you will not be sitting on the toilet for long. You'll have to find somewhere else to read your book or play games on your phone. I also love how this product helps my young daughter. She is so small that her feet don't reach the ground while she's on the potty. The Squatty Potty allows her to support herself in a healthy position. It is good to have a good start in one's pottying life!" โ€”Mustelo Furo

    38. A bitter-tasting clear nail polish that will help you kick your nail-biting habit so thoroughly that you'll finally be able paint your nails with a full glorious canvas again.

Promising review: "It's a miracle! I am 45 years old and have tried every product over the years โ€” my mom used to put everything imaginable on my fingernails to keep them out of my mouth, my grandma tried to pay me to grow my fingernails out, but still, here I was at 45 with horrible nails. This has been a miracle. I can't describe the taste but will just say that it makes me not want my hands anywhere near my face. Yes, it is difficult to eat finger food with this on โ€” I went to Florida recently and had to have my husband peel my shrimp for me. :-) But, it is a small price to pay to break this habit." โ€”Laurie S.

    39. A Deep Sleep pillow spray so you can spritz lavender, chamomile, and vetivert on your pillowcase each night and let them carry you off to sleep like a literal ~dream team~.

A hand holding the spray which comes in a white bottle
    This Works

Promising review: "I absolutely had to write this review on the off chance that it might help a fellow insomniac. I am in my early forties and have suffered terribly from insomnia since my early twenties. I just can't turn my head off at night and fall asleep. If I'm lucky and take my meds, I might be fortunate enough to sleep for maybe four hours, and that's intermittently. I still constantly wake up and it takes me forever to fall back asleep, if I'm lucky enough to even fall back asleep. When I do sleep, it's very lightly; I never reach that wonderful deep sleep stage. So basically I feel awful and am tired all the time. I have used other pillow sprays and they were just a joke and a waste of my money. The first night I used, I fell asleep within minutes AND DID NOT WAKE UP OR MOVE A MUSCLE ALL NIGHT. I slept for eight hours straight and woke up feeling amazing because I was so rested and refreshed. I was obviously thrilled but figured it was probably just a fluke. I have been using this every night for over a week now and I sleep like a baby every single night. I have literally cried tears of joy at the relief I feel of finally being able to sleep like a normal person." โ€”Ulta Customer

    40. A neck and shoulder relaxer to help soothe that neck stiffness and shoulder tension you get from the stress of *gestures at most things humans have to deal with*. Reviewers also swear by it for neck strain from side sleeping and computer use, and even migraines.,

(Psst โ€” you should consult with your doctor before trying anything new involving your neck/back area to make sure it's safe for you!)

For this, instead of like a regular pillow, you're supposed to lay on this in ten-minute intervals; the seller suggests working your way up to it by starting yourself off at five minutes at a time, with a one to three day adjustment period before regular use.

Promising review: "This neck relaxer is so easy to use! It took a few times to get used to, but it is not uncomfortable and is very much helpful with my chronic neck pain and shoulder tension. I felt pain relief after the first use! I have even been able to cut back on my chiropractor appointments because of this product. So thankful for this amazing find as I am only 41 and have been struggling with neck pain for several years now." โ€”Mary Beth

    41. A conditioning and healing castor oil full of vitamins and fatty-acids that won't just strengthen weak hair, but will help you maintain hair health over time. Reviewers mention seeing improvements in growth and strength within a week, with noticeable results within a few months.

FWIW, it also helps condition and strengthen eyelashes, eyebrows, and skin, so it really just shows up for you no matter what the task.

Promising review: "Hair growth! This worked well for my thinning hair. I am 40+ years old, it made my scalp itch but then I saw my hair filling in. Love this stuff!" โ€”ShaggyWolf

Get it from Amazon for $13.95.

    42. A set of natural bamboo charcoal oil-blotting strips to absorb up moisture and sweat, leaving your face breezy and your makeup intact.

Promising review: "As I have gotten older, in my mid-forties, my forehead and cheeks have become more and more oily as the day wears on. I have tried many different face washes, powders, etc. Nothing helped! THEN, I ordered these on a whim. I am so over the moon pleased that I plan to order another pack very soon. It's pretty amazing the amount of oil they pick up! And, I don't feel like they remove my makeup either, which is a bonus!!! My husband, who does not have oily skin and is a huge skeptic, even tried one and he could not believe how much oil they picked up. I highly recommend this product to anyone with oily skin. You will love it and will be just as surprised as I was on your first use!" โ€”Amazon Customer

    43. A jar of Aztec healing clay masks for acne that essentially suck the gunk out of your pores (and pre-existing acne) like a vacuum, and will leave your skin feeling so smooth and firm you'll want to pet it.

People in the reviews are also singing its praises for reducing the appearance of their pores! Many of them advise mixing the mask with apple cider vinegar for best results.

Promising review: "Excellent value for the money. I mix it with apple cider vinegar; I mix enough and store in an air tight container and that has worked well so far. It does dry the skin if used often, but I still went ahead because I was having a bad breakout. It calms the irritations and pushes out the blackheads. I make sure to moisturize well. I'm 40 and very pleased and so is my 17 year old." โ€”Wendy C.
