17 Pop Culture Inspired Costumes For Halloween 2015

Sorry, we're all out of sexy witches over here.

Halloween is only a month away and, unless you jumped on those great costume sales that websites always have in Spring, you don't have an up-to-date costumes. Nerd, nurse, sexy pizza slice. It's all been done for years.

Here I come to the rescue with 17 pop culture-inspired costumes for 2015.

1. Left Shark

Until now, shark costumes have been mostly reserved for cats riding roombas. But now it is our time. Katy herself has released an Official Left Shark Onesie. Or you could buy a more accurate version for about the price of an average brand-name "sexy" costume.

2. The Dress

As one of the biggest controversies of the year, this will no doubt be a popular costume. Many blue/black copies of the original dress have popped up all over the internet, but I suggest grabbing a friend and tracking down one of the rare white/gold version.

Or, you can just buy the "sexy costume" version.

3. Starbucks Lovers

This viral misheard lyric just barely missed Halloween '14, but that doesn't mean you can't bring it back. How you do it is all up to you. A pink frappuccino? Painting your whole body the color of a #PSL? The sky's the limit.

4. Sorry, No Carnitas.

The Carnitas Crisis of 2015 is a story we will all be telling our grandchildren. They're back now, so the least you can do it dedicate your costume. The Chipotle uniform is so simple (you can even buy shirts on their website), and all you need to add is one piece of paper!

5. Raptor

Almost everyone saw Jurassic World and those who didn't at least saw this photo of Chris Pratt's butt. But, what you might not have realized is that there are actually 3 dinosaurs in this picture! The best part about dressing up as a raptor is that you can make best friends with all of your fellow raptors and go hit on every cute guy dressed as Owen. The worst part? Costume designers somehow missed the point and decided that the T-Rex was actually the star of the film.

6. Margarita Hero

Jimmy Buffett's cameo in Jurassic World showed true bravery. Step over Marvel, there's a new hero to look up to. After he selflessly rescued two margaritas, this guy became a legend. The costume is very easy and you have an excuse to always have not one, but two margaritas in your hands all night long.

7. PINOOOOOOOT NOOOIIRRRR

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt gets little attention from critics and awards shows, but it sure is beloved on the internet. If anything is Halloween-worthy, "Pinot Noir" is. Put on your glitziest outfit, chow down on caviar, roll up to the party in your mid-sized car, and find out who your true friends are (in the boudoir).

8. Toronto Raccoon

After Animal Services forgot to clean up a dead raccoon, the good people of Toronto created a beautiful memorial. There are plenty of raccoon costumes in the world and all it takes is roses, a sign, and a framed photograph to take your internet culture game to the next level.

9. Marty McFly

It's 2015 so power-lace your shoes, hop on your hoverboard, sip on a Pepsi Perfect, and head on down to your Halloween festivities of choice.

Anyone who shows up to a non-children's Halloween party as a Minion will undoubtedly be beat-up, so if you really have the urge to dress up as a twinkie with eyes, pull up a gory youtube tutorial and save yourself some pain.

11. Amy Schumer

As one half of both "The Amys" and "Jamy", Amy Schumer has really been on the rise this year. You have so many sketches and TV appearances to choose from, but to be recognizable I would suggest one of her more viral roles. Luckily, both Amazon and Bed, Bath, and Beyond carry giant wine glasses.

12. The Escaped Llamas

Known for both taking our attention off The Dress and for giving us BFF relationship goals, these troublemakers from Arizona captured our hearts in February. Grab your best friend and start figuring out how to make a llama costume. Bonus points if you also wear the different color Dresses.

14. Netflix and Chill

There are many ways you could pull this concept off, such as wearing lingerie and carrying around a laptop. Or you could make it a couple costume and dress as a laptop and an ice cube (?). Whatever you end up doing, it probably isn't ordering pizza and watching old episodes of Friends.

15. YAAAS Cat

Let's be serious. A cat costume is the easiest costume to pull off. I've been a cat of some form (generic, Hello Kitty, the Cheshire cat) half the Halloweens of my life. So what makes this unique? Well first, you are limited by the color and floofiness of this iconic kitty. Secondly, it turns the entire night into an adventure where you say YAAAS to every new experience. The shy need not apply.

I'd suggest looking through old party pics and trying to find the blurry girl in the background that you don't recognize because didn't even realize she was there. That's her. Copy that look. And then just stay home. No one wants you here, Felicia.
