If you are looking for panache, savoir faire and cache then head to White 1921 across from the Place des Lice in St. Tropez. You will know you have arrived when the strong sentinel-like metal gates appear. The ornamental gates with white lion faces offer a "king of the jungle" or let's "walk on the wild side" invitation. It is a tempting invitation to accept and Mr. B and I find ourselves accepting frequently.
White 1921 is a combination boutique hotel, bar/bistro and al fresco nightclub. The terraced bar area is outfitted with puffy comfortable sofas and chairs. Two-top bistro tables are scattered around the patio with sleek modern black chairs. A huge, ancient umbrella shaped tree presides over all the guests and harbors them in its shade. The terraced bar area is a sexy rendez-vous point for romance while enjoying drinks and appetizers. The #1 drink special is the St. Tropez mojito. There is also a nice selection of French wines on the menu.
This is a great place to dress up and wear a cocktail dress style. The dressier look is the better fashion to rock the night scene. Linen shirts and slacks for the men work perfectly. It is one of the top night scenes to be seen at. After 8pm it is standing room only, but the place is always rocking and stylish. There is always a DJ spinning the tunes and the latest, hottest songs burn up the turntable and blast through the speakers.
It is difficult to pass up the 2005 Bordeaux by the glass or bottle. Some nights, we are bar hopping in St. Tropez and a glass will satisfy. When we are ordering the tapas small plates and dining in, we order a bottle. The day turns into night and back into day very easily at White 1921. Be sure and stop by for an aperitif or digestif at White 1921 or stay the evening. Salute!
