    1. When it first happens, you feel indescribable pain.

    2. You cry more tears than you ever thought possible.

    3. For a few days you don't see the point of eating, showering, or just generally getting out of bed.

    4. You hope for a while they'll change their mind, so you check your phone every five minutes, willing them to message you.

    5. But they don't. And that's when you turn to your friends.

    6. And lots and lots of wine.

    7. And ice cream. And chocolate.

    8. You find out who your real friends are, and their support means everything.

    9. You also, sadly, find out who you can't rely on.

    10. You engage in a bit of social media stalking.

    11. You try to block them out of your mind, but your stupid fucking subconscious makes you dream about them.

    12. The smallest of things reminds you of them, and you remember random memories at inopportune moments.

    13. You spend a while going out, getting drunk, and maybe having sex with randoms because you literally DGAF.

    14. But then you realise this isn't the best course of action, and make some changes.

    15. You begin to work out what really makes you happy.

    16. And if that's hanging out watching Netflix and eating pasta, you do it.

    17. But if you want to go out and let your hair down, you do that too. You realise you can do whatever the hell you want.

    18. You begin to make time for the people and things you may have neglected during your relationship.

    19. And in time, you learn how to smile and laugh properly again.

    20. It becomes less exhausting pretending to be alright when you actually begin to feel that way.

    21. You still think about them, and you still miss them.

    22. But eventually you realise you are stronger than you ever thought possible.

    23. And you know that, in time, you really will be OK.
