And the evidence is pretty compelling.

If ever there were two signifiers of girl power within music, Taylor Swift and Kesha would be up there.

Not only are they two of this generation's best songwriters, but Taylor also offered her support to Kesha at her time of need earlier this year.

Kesha had been embroiled in a legal battle with music producer Dr Luke over claims of sexual assault. After a judge denied Kesha an injunction that would have permitted her to record new music outside of her record label, Taylor donated $250,000 to "help with any of her financial needs during this trying time."

So it's not surprising that people are desperate for the pair to collaborate.

And it seems that people's wishes may have come true. Yesterday, Kesha shared this photo of herself from a recording booth.

She posted the selfie alongside this ~cryptic~ caption.

The speculation began instantly.

Fans have also spotted one clue in particular that could point to Taylor.

Aside from the obvious reference to the artist being a "casual Grammy award winner," Kesha also posted 13 emojis in her caption. Thirteen is, of course, Taylor's lucky number – and in the past she has explained: "Basically, whenever a 13 comes up in my life, it's a good thing."

Also, if you look closely at this throwback picture of Taylor in the recording studio, she appears to be wearing the same headphones as Kesha is in her photo.

Oh, and then there's the fact that over the weekend Gigi Hadid let slip that Taylor is back in the recording studio.

Gigi was thrilled that Taylor made time to watch her walk in the Tommy Hilfiger show, telling ET: "She's obviously such a great friend. And, you know, she is starting to go back to work in the studio again, and really made time to be here for me. I am so grateful for that."

It looks like we'll just have to watch this space to find out whether the speculation could be true.
