Kelly Clarkson Says She Never "Wanted To Kill Herself" Over Her Weight

Kelly has clarified comments that went viral this week, stating that she never contemplated suicide because of her weight.

This post has been updated to include Kelly Clarkson's tweets in reaction to the interview being published.

Yesterday, comments Kelly Clarkson made about being unhappy with her body at the start of her career went viral.

    Speaking to Attitude, she said:

When I was really skinny, I wanted to kill myself. I was miserable, inside and out, for four years of my life. But no one cared, because aesthetically you make sense. It was a very dark time for me. I thought the only way out was quitting. I wrecked my knees and feet because all I would do is put in headphones and run. I was at the gym all the time.

However, she's now clarified what she meant by the comments, saying that she never contemplated suicide because of her weight.

And she also made clear that she lost weight as a result of being miserable, not because she was trying to stay slim.

Later in the interview, Kelly went on to say that she became happier after she broke free from her record label, achieved creative control, and erased "negative people" from her life that she began to feel better.

And she also added that she's learned to accept her body by "not obsessing" over her flaws.

    She said:

I don't obsesses about my weight, which is probably one of the reasons why other people have such a problem with it. There are just some people who are born skinny with a great metabolism – that is not me. I wish I had a better metabolism, but someone else probably wishes they could walk into a room and make friends with everyone like I can. You always want what someone else has.

    Go Kelly!
