Here's Why The Kardashians Haven't Confirmed Kim, Khloé, And Kylie's Pregnancies Yet

Keeping Up With the Kardashians is back, and so too might be the tradition of confirming wild rumours on the show.

Unless you've been somewhere other than planet Earth for the past few days, you'll have heard the news that Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner are ALL expecting babies.

All three pregnancies have been confirmed to BuzzFeed News by a source with knowledge of the situation.

Kim is expecting her third child with Kanye West via a surrogate in January. Kylie is pregnant with her first child with boyfriend Travis Scott, due around January or February. And Khloé is having a baby with her boyfriend Tristan Thompson, with a due date after Kylie's.

However, the family themselves have remained tight-lipped on the reports. In fact, they've gone out of their way to point out that they're not confirming anything.

Earlier this month, Kim said of the reports that her third baby is on the way: "There's so many details out there, and like, I've heard this, I've heard that. Like, whatever. We have not confirmed it, and that's that. I'll let you know when we're ready."

After the news that Kylie was also expecting broke last week, Kris Jenner said: "She's not confirming anything. I think it's kind of wild that everyone is just assuming that that's just happening."

Oh, and she also shut down Ryan Seacrest live on air, repeating again that Kylie was "not confirming anything" after he texted her for gossip.

Well this is all very interesting given that Keeping Up With the Kardashians returns to our screens this coming Sunday. And it's no ordinary season – this October actually marks 10 whole years since KUWTK began.

And the family's silence on the news of the pregnancies, combined with the start date of Season 14, has led to a compelling theory: that all three pregnancies will be confirmed in some way during the show on Sunday.

Why, you ask?

Because the Kardashians have a long history of refusing to confirm rumours until the new season of their show airs.

I've written about this at length before, but here are some of the clearest examples that pretty much mirror what's happening now.

1. Kourtney Kardashian's third pregnancy, June 2014.

Kourtney became pregnant in March 2014, with Season 9 of the show set to air in June. Pregnancy rumours began circulating in May, and reached fever pitch in the week before the new season began. Days before the season premiere, Kris Jenner gave an interview in which she refused to confirm or deny the rumours, saying: "The only way I can answer that question is you'll just have to tune in on Sunday and get the answer."

The season premiere aired and was immediately followed by a teaser trailer for the rest of the series, in which Kourtney's pregnancy was confirmed. The episode in which Kourtney announced her pregnancy received the highest ratings of the entire season.

2. Kim's second pregnancy, May 2015.

Rumours that Kim was pregnant with her second child were sparked in April 2015. However, the family refused to comment on the reports until the mid-season finale of Season 10, on 21 May, which aired a teaser trailer for the remaining half of the series. The trailer opened with Kim telling Khloé: "Guess what. I just got the blood tests back. And I'm pregnant!"

3. Kylie Jenner's lips, May 2015.

In probably the longest-running Kardashian/Jenner rumour in the history of the show, the family kept their fans guessing for an entire year as to whether Kylie Jenner had undergone lip fillers. Reports first emerged in March 2014, with Kylie denying the allegations on Twitter.

Then, on two separate occasions in October, both Kim and Kylie herself publicly denied the rumours. One month later, during a red carpet appearance, Kylie again brushed off questions about her lips. In January 2015 she gave an interview to Cosmopolitan in which she said her changing appearance was down to "contouring" and "getting older". She reiterated the statement in an interview with Grazia in April 2015.

But then the teaser trailer for Season 10 of KUWTK arrived, showing a scene in which Kylie was anxious after being asked about her lips by a reporter, and it became clear that the reports would be handled in the upcoming season. In fact, we received an entire episode devoted to Kylie's lips, which made clear that rather than give the exclusive to a magazine or red carpet reporter, the family reserved the confirmation that she had had lip fillers for the show.

4. Kourtney's split from Scott Disick, September 2015.

Reports that Kourtney had ended her 10-year relationship with Scott Disick emerged on 6 July 2015. Neither Kourtney nor Scott commented on the reports. In fact, the news wasn't confirmed until Season 10 resumed on 20 September 2015. At the end of the first episode came a teaser trailer for the rest of the season, in which Kourtney could be seen crying and saying: "I've tried so hard to keep this family together." In the season finale, which aired three weeks later, Kourtney ended her relationship with Scott.

So, if history is to be repeated, this Sunday's episode could end with a teaser trailer for the rest of the season in which all three pregnancies are confirmed.

And the fact that this is the 10th anniversary of KUWTK and therefore Kind Of A Big Deal could make this possibility even more likely.

The family always start each new season with a dramatic storyline, but a triple pregnancy is probably the biggest yet. It makes sense, then, to reserve the announcement for this special anniversary of the show. And, after several seasons of falling ratings, this news would not only attract viewers but also ensure the next decade begins with an introduction to the new generation of family drama.

Either way, everyone is seriously living.
