It Looks Like Taylor Swift Shaded The Fuck Out Of Kanye West On Her New Album

Oooh boy, this song is quite something.

In case you somehow missed it, Taylor Swift has released her sixth album, Reputation.

Now, we all knew that there was a chance she'd reference the shitshow that went down last summer between her, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West.

If you somehow missed the drama, you can catch up here, but the TL;DR version is that Kanye released a song that featured the lyrics: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous." When the song was released, Kanye claimed Taylor had approved the lyrics, but she publicly disavowed the song. She then appeared to shade the situation in her Grammys acceptance speech a few weeks later. Then Kim Kardashian claimed she had proof in the form of an audio recording where Taylor appeared to approve the lyrics. Taylor denied it again. So Kim leaked the audio on Snapchat and a shitstorm ensued, Taylor's reputation imploded, and she disappeared for months.

Well, – and we could be wrong – but it appears she has written an entire song about it, called "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things". And ooh boy, it's quite something. So, let's get to analysing.

So, first up we have the line: "Why'd you have to rain on my parade?"

A Z Lyrics

Especially because it's followed up with these lyrics.

A Z Lyrics

"Being friends again" presumably refers to the very public reconciliation they had at the MTV VMAs in 2015. She presented him with the Video Vanguard award, made a joke about their feud, and gave him a big hug.

A couple of days later, Kanye sent her his trademark cube of flowers, and she reciprocated the gesture by Instagramming them alongside the caption "#KanTay."

She even mentioned how popular the picture had been in the phone call she had with Kanye about "Famous". So, all of this could well be interpreted as her giving him a "second chance" after his interrupting her years before.

The next lyric?

A Z Lyrics

This could be a reference to Kanye asking for approval of "Famous," but not mentioning the use of "that bitch," which is the part of the song that Taylor objected to the most. In other words, he "stabbed her in the back" by using that lyric when he "shook her hand" agreeing to the other lyrics.

And THEN we have this lyric, which is arguably the most explicit reference to Kanye.

A Z Lyrics

Not only does she mention being "tricked" and "mind-twisted" by a "friend," but she throws in the fact that all of this occurred on the goddamn PHONE, which is exactly how the drama between her and Kanye went down.

Shortly after the fallout with Taylor, and just before he was hospitalised, Kanye had a public falling out with Jay-Z. In November 2016, Kanye said onstage: "You still ain’t called me. Jay-Z, I know you got killers. Please don’t send them at my head. Please call me. Talk to me like a man."

And then when Jay-Z released his album 4:44, he appeared to shade Kanye with these lyrics: "I know people backstab you, I feel bad too / But this fuck everybody attitude ain't natural / But you ain't a Saint, this ain't KumbaYe."

Other lyrics continued: "But you got hurt because you did cool by 'Ye / You gave him 20 million without blinking / He gave you 20 minutes on stage, fuck was he thinking? / 'Fucking wrong with everybody?' is what you saying / But if everybody's crazy, you're the one that's insane."

The line in Taylor's song, then, could be a reference to the fact that Kanye also lost Jay-Z as a friend.

Following the wave of negative attention against him after interrupting Taylor in 2009, Kanye disappeared for a year. When he returned, it was with his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and the lyrics to one of the songs, "Runaway," said: "Let's have a toast for the douchebags, let's have a toast for the assholes, scumbags."

Oh, and if we thought that there would ever be a resolution to this feud, we were wrong. The song also features these lines, with her literally CACKLING before saying: "I can't even say it with a straight face."

AZ Lyrics

Seriously, download the album for that cackle alone, it needs to be heard to be believed.
