Benedict Cumberbatch And His Fiancée Sophie Hunter Have Made Their Red Carpet Debut

And we even got to see the ring.

Earlier this month, Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed his engagement to actress and theatre director, Sophie Hunter, via an announcement in The Times newspaper.

    The Times.

It all came as quite a shock as Cumberbatch and Hunter had only been seen publicly once, at a tennis match, in June.

But now they've made their red carpet debut at the New York premiere of Cumberbatch's new movie, The Imitation Game. And don't they look just PERFECT?

The outing comes shortly after Cumberbatch gave his first interview since the engagement, in which he told fans their ovaries will "still have uses".

Speaking on the American chat show, Live, Cumberbatch said: "I'm very happy, I'm a very happy man. I have a great population of fans as well – they're smart, they'll get around to the idea. Your ovaries do still have use, let me tell you."

He went on to reveal exactly why he chose the very un-celebrity method of announcing his engagement in The Times.

He said: "It's what I would have done if I wasn't famous. It's a normal thing to do in my country. It was a way of telling our friends who we hadn't been able to tell before [they saw] some grainy shot of a ring on her finger."
