There’s a lot of chatter online about a potential romance between Kim Kardashian and Tom Brady — and before anyone gets too carried away, let’s break down what’s actually going on.
So, like a lot of Hollywood’s most bizarre dating rumors, this whole thing started out with a blind item on Deux Moi — a pseudonymous Instagram account that posts anonymous tips about celebrities, which should obviously be taken with a grain of salt.
On Sunday, the popular account shared a blind item with the subject line: “Starlet looking for a vaca property & maybe more,” which went on to allege that an “A list reality star” was spotted touring homes in a “warm locale,” apparently driving a golf cart belonging to “a certain newly single A list athlete.”
The submission concluded by speculating whether the unnamed pair were “just friends or maybe more,” prompting fans to jump to the conclusion that they were referring to Kim and Tom — both of whom are single after finalizing their respective divorces from Kanye West and Gisele Bündchen.
A day later, an inside source appeared to corroborate the story, telling Page Six that Kim apparently took a trip to the Bahamas recently in order to tour a property at Baker’s Bay Golf & Ocean Club — an exclusive members-only residential community where Tom has a home.
According to the insider, Kim reached out to the retired football star for advice before heading out to view the resort over the weekend — which would explain why she may have been using his golf cart.
“Kim and Tom are friendly,” a “well-placed source” told the outlet this week. “She phoned him and asked him for his advice on Baker’s Bay.”
Needless to say, it wasn’t long before the reports began circulating online and Twitter users shared their immediate reactions to the unlikely pairing.
But, for now at least, it seems like things between Tom and Kim are strictly platonic, with a representative for the NFL legend denying reports of a romance.
What’s more, a source close to Kim added that while they “have friends and business partners in common,” they are “not dating.”
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that Tom’s name has gotten mixed up in Kim’s relationship timeline since Kanye mentioned him on more than one occasion throughout his and Kim’s messy divorce.
During the midst of one of the rapper’s bouts of erratic social media activity in Sept. 2022, Kanye shared an Instagram post praising Silicon Valley investor Andreessen Horowitz, describing him as the “only VC I like.”
At the time, Kanye seemed happy to have gotten Tom’s seal of approval, prompting him to give the athlete a shoutout in a subsequent post suggesting that he also “must hate” Pete Davidson, Kim’s ex-boyfriend.
A few months later, Kanye name-dropped Tom for a second time during a highly controversial interview with right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, which took place soon after his and Kim’s divorce was finalized in November.
Issuing a direct message to his ex-wife during the interview, Kanye suggested that she should “marry somebody great” like Tom.
“Hulu does not love you, Kim. Disney does not love you, Kim. Come home, Kim. Come home to Christ. Go to God. Go to Jesus,” he said. “Or marry somebody great. Go marry Tom Brady, whatever you want to do, but get married and use your platform as an influence to keep families together.”
Funnily enough, one report claims that it was this remark from Kanye that may have prompted Kim to reach out to Tom in the first place to issue an apology.
“The [Instagram] chats started from there — then they moved to phone chatting,” a source told the Sun this week, adding that the pair have known each other “for a few years” and have been “reconnecting” recently.
The same insider claimed that during Kim’s visit to the Bahamas, Tom “set her up with a few places to look at and she came over [and] they did dinner.”
