Using A RFID-Blocking Wallet Is A Good Idea (And Here Are 26 Great Ones)

Identity theft precautions aside, these wallets will make you look like you have boat loads of cash to fill them.

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

So what *is* an RFID-blocking wallet? It's a normal looking wallet (as you can see below!) with some extra insulation as a means to protect your cards against sketchy people trying to electronically skim and steal your information.

There's A LOT of debate on the Internet about the technology behind skimming, whether people actually do it, and if RFID-blocking wallets even help. I'm not here to preach to you about identity theft and safety, but carrying these types of wallets sometimes make people feel safer. And TBH, they won't cost you more than a similar one that doesn't have the RFID-blocking insulation.

So if you're like me, a person who had their credit card stolen and $800+ of products charged to it by a stranger who lives in another state, you may be more inclined to opt for one of these!

    1. A multi-tool money clip for someone who's always prepared for the worst but travels light.

10-in-1 multi-tool wallet features a cash strap and card slide, scraper, bottle opener, nail-removing notch, standard wrenches (3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16"), metric wrenches (10mm, 9mm, 8mm, 7mm, 6mm, 5mm), flathead screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver/tape cutter, protractor, and metric and imperial rulers.

Get it from Brookstone for $14.99.

    2. A sharp envelope style less than $20 that people will assume cost you a lot more dough.

Promising review: "I was scared a little at first with how small it was. I knew I was getting a small wallet, of which I'm not used to, but I was sick of digging out a large wallet. I transferred my essentials over to this wallet, which is about half the size of my old one and it's perfect! It fits my essentials and it isn't bulky at all. It's slim and small which will help with extra room in my purse! I was also glad the pockets fit more than one card in the slots too. There are six card slots total, but I have at least 12 cards in it, and it's still slim." —Wendy Bartz

Get it from Amazon for $16.99 (available in eight color combos).

    3. A travel wallet with ample room to fit your passport, boarding pass, and cards. (It'll be the least expensive thing about your next trip.)

Promising review: "I bought this before traveling overseas into a country well-known for tech scanning. It gave me peace of mind. A word of caution: Some TSA personnel will ask you to take your passport out of the holder before they will look at your passport. Just keep a free hand when you get there in case they do. You can slide it right back in afterward. I also kept my luggage receipt in there which helped the airlines when making connections. There's room for credit cards and other IDs in there too, giving them RFID protection also. It's also big enough that I was able to find it easily when I needed it." —RRH

Get it from Amazon for $5.99+ (available in 14 colors).

    4. A minimalist design that won't add bulk to pockets.

There's good bulk and there's bad bulk. Wallet bulk is bad bulk! Oh and this thing has a one-year warranty.

Promising review: "Great little wallet. I have a card in every pocket, and 2 IDs in the ID pocket for a total of 7 cards. Even with all of these cards, I was able to comfortably fit $300 worth of $20 bills (15 bills total) in the middle cash slot with plenty of wiggle room. None of the cards are any harder to remove from the wallet than from any of my old bifolds, but I chose the crosshatch material over the leather because I knew it'd stick less. The ID cards slide out effortlessly, even with two of them in there. This fits perfectly in my front wallet with my phone and I no longer need to sit on a blocky bifold all day." —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $14.99 (available in 34 color combos).

Promising review: "My husband is SO picky — so much so that he refused to give up his old wallet for over a decade because he loved the layout. And it was falling to pieces! I looked at a LOT of wallets here on Amazon, and read about 100 reviews. I gave this wallet the go, it was received SO fast, and best of all, my picky husband loves it! It is well-made, roomy enough for all his cards, he loves being able to flip open the driver's license without having to remove it from the wallet (unless they MAKE you take it out...) and there's even a bill separator, which comes in handy for keeping receipts, or just organizing bigger bills from smaller ones. He's happy with the look, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy again! Highly recommend!" —Katniss05

    24. An Alpine Swiss bifold in handsome leather hues — it can hold as much as some trifolds.

Promising review: "My husband wanted a security wallet so I looked at a number of these for him. He usually uses a trifold, but some reviewers thought the trifold slots were too tight and the wallet didn't close well, so I decided to look at bifolds instead. Of all the Alpine Swiss bifolds, this one had the best reviews, and he's very happy with it. It holds everything he had in his trifold and still closes easily and stays closed. It's a little larger than most bifolds, but it closes very flat, even with every slot filled. He finds it very easy to carry in his front pocket." —Marlene C. English

I use these on all my credit cards and passport. These can be used every day. I've used one for my everyday bank card, had it for a few months and there are very little signs of wear, no rips or tears. 10/10 would recommend." —Jerry
