A couple months ago, I wouldn’t have considered buying a see-through bag, even though it’s clearly a big trend ATM. However, as more and more summer events started coming up (like baseball games, concerts, festivals, museum trips), I started warming up to the idea. A lot of venues require bag checks at the entry and some stadiums even go as far as requiring clear bags for safety reasons. I thought it probably wouldn’t hurt to have one on hand — and because it was made of plastic, I could also use it as a rainy-day bag.
After some digging, I found this one from Amazon. It’s clearly fashioned after a Chanel bag, but because I don't have thousands of dollars to spend on the original, this would do just fine. It was a little more than what I wanted to spend on a PVC bag, but the reviews mentioned that the quality of this one is better than similar options, so I went for it. As soon as I received it, I knew I'd made the right decision. The plastic is thick and durable, the stitching is neat and even, and the hardware was a true gold tone. It’s also crystal-clear, with no yellow tinge or cloudiness. I was very pleased with the quality. The bag is actually pretty spacious — I can fit my wallet, sunglasses, phone, some makeup, keys, and random bits and bobs in there. Of course, the issue with a clear bag is that everything is on display, so I try to keep stuff hidden in little pouches.
I’ve taken this out a few times, and bag checks have been extremely swift at every venue. I’ve also gotten tons of compliments from people who see it. Even though it was a bit of an impulse purchase, I find myself grabbing it more and more often these days, especially since it's been so rainy here in New York. The classy design makes it suitable for everyday wear, and it adds a lot interest to a boring ol' outfit. I highly recommend it! —Yi Yang
