    1. A clear handbag with a braided chain strap (and a striking resemblance to Chanel) that'll get the security approval at an NFL game. Really.

    Yi Yang / BuzzFeed

A couple months ago, I wouldn’t have considered buying a see-through bag, even though it’s clearly a big trend ATM. However, as more and more summer events started coming up (like baseball games, concerts, festivals, museum trips), I started warming up to the idea. A lot of venues require bag checks at the entry and some stadiums even go as far as requiring clear bags for safety reasons. I thought it probably wouldn’t hurt to have one on hand — and because it was made of plastic, I could also use it as a rainy-day bag.

After some digging, I found this one from Amazon. It’s clearly fashioned after a Chanel bag, but because I don't have thousands of dollars to spend on the original, this would do just fine. It was a little more than what I wanted to spend on a PVC bag, but the reviews mentioned that the quality of this one is better than similar options, so I went for it. As soon as I received it, I knew I'd made the right decision. The plastic is thick and durable, the stitching is neat and even, and the hardware was a true gold tone. It’s also crystal-clear, with no yellow tinge or cloudiness. I was very pleased with the quality. The bag is actually pretty spacious — I can fit my wallet, sunglasses, phone, some makeup, keys, and random bits and bobs in there. Of course, the issue with a clear bag is that everything is on display, so I try to keep stuff hidden in little pouches.

I’ve taken this out a few times, and bag checks have been extremely swift at every venue. I’ve also gotten tons of compliments from people who see it. Even though it was a bit of an impulse purchase, I find myself grabbing it more and more often these days, especially since it's been so rainy here in New York. The classy design makes it suitable for everyday wear, and it adds a lot interest to a boring ol' outfit. I highly recommend it! —Yi Yang

Get it from Amazon for $37.99 (available in black, gold, silver, and white).

    2. A bold jumpsuit passersby may think you shelled out the big bucks for, but that's really a pair of industrial coveralls!!!

    Mallory Mower / BuzzFeed

I jumped on the jumpsuit trend so fast I practically ripped my old pants off my body. I love jumpsuits. So much. I love being able to buy one article of clothing and be in a complete outfit. Jumpsuits are bold (which, if you’ve ever had to use the bathroom in one, you know already) and beautiful. The only issue is that they make a statement in your closet, but also your bank account. I bought these industrial coveralls to test how easily I could get the look of a jumpsuit without spending the $200+ price tag I usually see them going for.

And guess what, kiddos?! This one is worth it! The material is sturdy, it cleans easily, and (unlike so many pieces I’ve purchased lately) it’s not see-through. I got the short-sleeved version because I didn’t want to totally melt in the summer sun, even though I still wanted to look hawt. And it’s totally comfortable and cute.

I myself, am hippy. And by that I mean I have the kind of lush round hips that make my grandma say, “Don’t worry, birth will be easy for you. Give me grandkids.” To best complement those curves, I fold the waistband over. If there’s ever a time I want a less curvaceous look, I keep the suit as is and saunter my way around with a slightly more subtle figure. The sleeves are a little wider than a regular women’s top, and originally I thought I would alter them, but they actually make for a perfect retro-feminist shoulder-pad vibe, and I dig it. The collar is also seven levels of hella cute — it’s big and bold and looks great up or down.

I paired this piece with earrings and shoes worth more than my apartment from a local boutique that I love, because shopping local is still chill, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I’ve also dressed it down with my usual bed-head and white sneakers and was equally satisfied. Turns out you can’t top the quality of an industrial-grade article of clothing, and can’t resist a catwalk when you’re wearing it. —Mallory Mower

Get it from Amazon for $34.82+ (available in sizes S–2XL and tall M–2XL, and in seven colors).

    3. A pair of geometric sunnies to dress up your LEAVE ME ALONE vibes.

    Elizabeth Lilly / BuzzFeed

When you live in the best city in the word (NYC, duh), privacy is scarce. For the curious, this is the main reason New Yorkers refuse eye contact on the subway. So you have to savor those little moments of peace, and I choose to do so by walking through crowded streets while listening to creepy podcasts and wearing large sunglasses. Also, sunnies make you look glam AF. (Just *look* at these Amazon reviewer pics.)

Enter this pair that I've had for more than a year. The geometric shape keeps things interesting without clashing with my heart-shaped visage, and I love the blue lenses. I supposed I have a thing for blue sunnies, like these ones that I waxed poetic about here. I'm Liz Lemon–level clumsy and throw these loose in my bag quite often — to have them emerge looking just the same. I'm not jetting around in an Italian cigarette boat like an Insta influencer, but these do a decent job of staying put while I dodge slow walkers and pet every random dog on the street. —Elizabeth Lilly

Get them from Amazon for $29.95 (available in blue, pink, and white).

    4. A reversible carryall tote that'll become your go-to work bag (and that's cheap enough to buy in every color).

    Jessica Seib / BuzzFeed

I am the queen of all things cheap so please believe me when I tell you that this affordable bag is a MUST-HAVE. I saw this gem on a friend's Insta and asked where she bought it. I practically fell to the ground when she told me where it was from (Walmart) and for how much (less than two drinks at happy hour). Sold. This reversible bag is a spot-on dupe for more expensive totes, and it carries everything I need — a 13" Macbook, charger(s), headphones, makeup, wallet, full-sized dog, queen bed, you name it! I'll admit, I ordered three (for two-day free shipping) but I have zero regrets. The quality was the biggest surprise upon arrival. It's super sturdy and able to take on a commuter girl's struggles in and around a big city. It has easily become my latest broke-girl staple piece. Trust me, your wallet and closet will thank you. —Jessica Seib

Get it from Walmart for $13.97 (available in eight reversible color combos).

    5. A pair of black jeans you can trick yourself into thinking are leggings because they're *that* soft.

    Emma McAnaw / BuzzFeed

If you've known me for more than a week, you definitely know that I l i v e in black jeans. You know how you (probably?) consider underwear an everyday necessity? That's how I feel about black denim. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to put on blue jeans, said "NOPE," and hopped right back into my go-tos.

So when Good American offered to send jeans, I knew I had to be reasonable and only choose a pair if I truly saw a style I didn't have. Luckily for me, they did! This pair of black jeans with raw stagger hem detailing is a trendy (yet subtle!) design that adds an edgy touch to my outfits without going overboard. I love how these super-on-trend jeans can upgrade an outfit wearing even my basic T-shirts. Plus, I can wear them with both sandals and heels, because thanks to the hem both look great! Not that I often wear heels. But the option is THERE.

Plus, the denim is SO soft it really feels like I'm wearing leggings. No, really! They're surprisingly stretchy for such a flattering cut, and never bag out. And I told you how often I wear black jeans — these get A LOT of use. So the fact that they haven't lost their shape says quite a bit. I try not to wash my jeans too much, but I did throw these in the wash and they're completely the same as when I first wore them — no fading at all!

For the price point, these qualifications are mandatory. No one's going to drop almost $200 and just "hope for the best!" I'm here to promise you they're well worth your hard-earned cash — especially if you're like me and wear them nonstop! —Emma McAnaw

Get them from Good American for $169 (available in sizes 00, 6–14, and 24).

    6. A pair of breezy sandals with enough wiggle room for lots of grammable, comfortable vacation strolls.

    Nordstrom, Elena Garcia / BuzzFeed

I went on vacation recently to a gorgeous little island of the coast of Mexico called Isla Holbox. It’s tiny, totally scenic, and nearly 100% beach. I love it there! I would move there in a second if it had better Wi-Fi. Knowing that I’d be roaming (and lying) around gorgeous beaches, I wanted a cute pair of sandals I could survive and look cute in.

Queue these Toms Viv Sandals. First, they’re so comfy! I have wider-than-normal but not totally wide feet, and they fit great across the foot. I’m normally a 7.5–8 and I ordered them in a size 7.5. The sole has a little cushion action that makes them super comfy to walk in. And the design is neutral but still fun (and they come in a ton of designs, so even if this one isn’t your jam, you have options!). These are just a great summer sandal I can live in until my toes tell me it’s too cold to. —Elena Garcia

Get them from Nordstrom for $59.95+ (available in sizes 5-12 and in seven color combos).

    7. A pair of ~seamless~ workout leggings with a design to keep you looking and feeling cool while you're dying inside during kickboxing.

    Adrianna Licitra / BuzzFeed

Exercising is not exactly "my thing." I want to work out regularly — I reallyyyy do — but I’ll find/invent any excuse to stay on my couch and not sweat! Those excuses normally go something like this: "I’m too tired," "I just washed my hair," "My dog will be lonely," "I’m starting Monday," and most often, "I don’t have anything to wear!" I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ditched a gym buddy or skipped a class I signed up for simply because I didn’t like or feel comfortable in my gym outfit. Every time I’m getting ready to exercise it turns into that scene from The Grinch where he tries on outfits for the Whobilation and then says, "That’s it, I’m not going!" I am a gym Grinch!

I’ve tried so many different legging brands and styles and found that 99% of them were too tight, thin, hot, itchy, flashy, wedgie-causing, uncomfortable, and/or just too freaking expensive. Until now! I’ve finally found THE pair that has (un)fortunately put an end to my go-to excuse: the Hera x Hero Le Papillon leggings, which are amazing. I feel so comfortable and confident in these that I actually want to get up and exercise (kind of). They're made of a high-quality fabric that is perfectly stretchy so it hugs your body in all the right places without making you feel restricted. The seamless design doesn’t itch or leave my skin with any red marks and indentations from squeezing me too tightly. A woven hole pattern curves down the legs for a bit of style and breathability, and the fabric is moisture-wicking so you never feel — or worse, SEE — sweat through your leggings!

At $44.99, they cost more than I’d normally want to spend on fitness leggings but if they motivate me to stop wasting money on an unused gym membership, I think they're well worth it. Plus, you can’t really put a price on looking and feeling comfortable and confident. "Work out regularly" is my top New Year’s resolution each year, and I have never been able to achieve it, but these leggings are definitely helping me take a step in the right direction. Now I just need someone to make my couch less comfy, my dog less adorable, and Monday not sound like the perfect day to start. —Adrianna Licitra

Get them from Hera Hero for $44.99 (available in sizes XS/S–L).

    8. A pair of leather sandals perfect for the folks who have nightmares about stepping out of slides on a busy city street.

    Yi Yang / BuzzFeed

I’ve been admiring things from Everlane for about five years now, but I’ve never actually purchased anything from the website. A month ago, I stopped by their brick-and-mortar store in Nolita, just to see if the stuff was truly as good as it appeared online. My eyes were immediately drawn to a pair of black leather slides on the shoe shelf. They were simple, chic, and the leather felt buttery soft. It was exactly the kind of summer sandal I was looking for. I tried them on, and they hugged my feet perfectly. They were honestly the MOST comfortable pair of sandals I’ve ever tried on.

There are two things I noticed that make them better than your average slides: First of all, the entire body of the shoe is leather, not just the straps. Even the insole is leather, and it feels super smooth against the skin. Secondly, the shape of the insole is designed to contour and support your feet — it’s not just flat. I typically have trouble with backless sandals, but the double-strap design holds my feet down so the shoe isn’t flopping around. As with all sandals, sometimes it gets dirty after a long walk. I just use a slightly damp cloth to wipe off the smooth leather and everything comes right off. I’ve been wearing them nonstop since I got them, and they still look brand new. The quality of the leather on these Italian-made shoes is top-notch; they're as well-made as designer shoes but don't have a $$$$ price tag. At $118, these aren’t cheap, but I know they'll last me a long time, and I'll wear them with absolutely everything. I’m now eyeing other colors too. —Yi Yang

Get them from Everlane for $118 (available in five color combos, sizes 5–11).
