We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. 1. A showstopping mesh dress you can use as a base for basically any special event's ensemble. Or just when you wanna jazz up your day. It has mesh! So it breathes!, Amazon

Promising review: "I bought this for my birthday party this month (July). The dress came on time, fit me perfectly in every area and the material was fantastic for the price. I found no downsides to this dress other than the mesh is hotter than it looks. Having been born in the summer I’m used to it but it’s definitely toasty! I thought it was a beautiful addition to my closet. Dark but not tacky is my fashion goal lol. I found it to be a bit itchy, but I have the most sensitive skin of all time. Overall I’d buy this dress again, I loved it and so did everyone else!" —Kelly

Get it from Amazon for $14.99+ (available in sizes 2/4–22/24 and 12 styles/colors).

    2. Cat-eye sunnies that'll help you maintain your air of mystery and keep the sun out of your used-to-the-indoors eyes.

reviewer with dark hair and red lips wearing the sunglasses with a cat eye and pointed outer corners

Promising review: "I love these sunglasses so much!!!! All the sunglasses I buy are $400+ but I came across these and loved the style and shape! I was not disappointed! They’re so chic and so light and great quality! Get them. I got a pack of two and love them both!" —Sandra

Get them from Amazon for $13.99 (available in five colors and two-packs).

    3. Or some round sunnies to show some of your edges aren't so sharp.

    Instagram: @bree_hart / Via,

Promising review: "It’s pretty hard for me to find round glasses that fit my larger face without making me look like I’m part of the three blind mice, but these were perfect! I think these would work really well with smaller faces, too. They're a great pair of everyday glasses. The case is super sturdy and zips as well. It comes with a cloth to clean the lens. A lot of more expensive brands have flimsy cases. The polarization is great because it doesn’t distort color and reduces glare making it easier on your eyes, but iPhones also have this so together, it’ll make your screen look pretty weird. Besides that, amazing glasses" —Ange

Get them from Amazon for $14.99 (available in six colors).

    4. A vegan felt hat with a message for anyone doubting your inclinations. Cheers to something that fits your *lewk* and gives you a little extra shade.

Get it from Witchwood for $30.

    5. And speaking of shade, a parasol to keep the sun off your face and rains from ruining your 'do. Also, um, what an amazing photo prop.

Promising review: "Held up fairly well to semi-strong winds while I was walking, kept my from being sun burned and rained on equally while walking around downtown, and it looks awesome and people gave lots of compliments." —Krys

Get it from Amazon for $20.98+ (available in six color combos).

    6. An SPF 50 mineral sunscreen lotion with tinted options for your face because no one, let me repeat, NO ONE should be walking around sans SPF. No excuses! But the uptick in temps is a solid reminder.,

Promising review: "This sunscreen spreads so well. A little goes a long way, and if you are Black, it won't leave you looking 'ashy.' It also has a very light smell. I like it!" —Jaliane

Get it from Amazon for $9.29+ (available in several shades and sunscreen types).

    7. And an SPF 30 body sunscreen that's beloved by reviewers with melanated skin. It rubs in (like, actually rubs in) and doesn't leave any ashy white effect.

    Marquaysa Battle / BuzzFeed

My colleague Marquaysa Battle also swears by the stuff (and she's so great about skincare!). Here's what she has to say:

"Babyyy! This was the best beauty find of 2020 for me. The first body sunscreen I've found that does NOT leave me looking ashy. Wearing sunscreen regularly (yup, even in the fall) is one of my new self-care methods and I feel good putting this on knowing it a) doesn't look ghostly on me and b) was made by Black women just like me."

Promising review: "My daughter used the original formula and I used the kid's version. We wore it outdoors all day in direct sunlight at the beach and pool (without reapplying like we're supposed to). It worked well, and we didn't have that white hue from other sunscreens. Now, I feel more inclined to wear it more often. Even better, our sensitive skin didn't react to it, not even on our faces." —amsirahC

Get it from Target for $15.99.

    8. Or if you really wanna go the extra mile, a SPF 50 body sunscreen I use (and actually need to re-up). It has a delightful faint cucumber scent that's noticeable in the breeze and feels more like a moisturizer than a sunscreen. So hourly reapplication will leave you protected and looking normal, not all streaky.

four models' forearms of varying skin tons witht he sunscreen on it

In an attempt to compensate for what felt like a lost summer, I did several local beach trips back to back to back in August of last year after hiding inside since March. I burn immediately during a normal year (as one of the palest white people you've ever seen), so I was especially worried about being out in the sun after that long. It was no sweat with this sunscreen. This stuff comes out in a lotion-like consistency and soaks in super fast. I was able to easily reapply every hour or two (which I find works best for me, despite whatever a sunscreen's label advises) without looking all streaky. For a few years I was using spray-on sunscreen and always ALWAYS missed spots while spraying. Not an issue with this one! After my first beach trip using it, I basically turned into a salesman for it to my friends. If all of that doesn't convince you, it has green tea and hyaluronic acid which has done my skin well. Oh, and it's cruelty-free!

Promising review: "I like the consistency of this sunscreen. It almost feels like a mix between a sunscreen and a serum/moisturizer for your body. This was easy to rub in and had no white cast after you spread it over yourself. The light scent was also pleasant and non-irritating!" —JUSTINE C

Get it from Amazon for $18.

    9. A pair of stretchy bike shorts that'll become part of your WFH, working out, lounging, *and* just-about-anything-else rotation. They're gonna look so good with all your horror T-shirts.,

FYI, if you have Amazon Prime Wardrobe you can give this a spin before you buy it!

Promising review: "Great quality, great material, non see through, lightweight, very comfortable. The cotton is very soft and the fit is flattering from all angles. The elastic on the waist is secure enough for running, without being too tight or uncomfortable. Great use for working out or loungewear; however, my only complaint is they do get a tad bit loose in the leg as you wear them when running, so they may ride up a bit in between your thighs when you run. For me it is not bothersome and I have ordered multiple pairs." —Aisha

Get them from Amazon for $7.19+ (available in sizes S–XXL and in two colors). Also check out a similar pair of bike shorts in sizes XL–7X.

    10. Chunky sandals to let your toes breathe without sacrificing that height. Love. To. Tower. Over. Everyone.

reviewer wearing the chunky sandals with a T-strap and ankle straps

Promising review: "These shoes were the most comfortable platform sandals I’ve ever worn, straight out of the box. I was leaving a cold climate to vacation in a warm one, so hadn’t broken in these shoes at all and immediately was walking long distances over uneven streets with no problem. Feet never hurt. Sandals are sassy and look as good or better than advertised. Easy to dress up your outfit and remain comfortable." —frequentcustomer

Get them from Amazon for $29.90 (available in sizes available in sizes 5.5–11 and five colors).

    11. Or some Dr. Martens fishermen sandals in case you'd live in those wonderful clunky soles for the rest of your life. These sandals are like your fave boots' cousin.

chunky black sandals with horizontal straps across the foot and an ankle strap

FYI, if you have Amazon Prime Wardrobe you can give this a spin before you buy it!

Promising review: "These are AMAZING I feel like a '90s goth queen lol. Please though, everyone is super correct in that they run BIG. I sized down, I'm normally a women's 7 or 7.5 depending on the shoe, so for these I ordered men's 6. They fit perfectly!" —PG

My feet were completely dry and the shoes aren’t ruined, just used baby wipes to clean them off and they’re ready to go again. They look so similar to the all black high top Converse sneakers. They fit very true to size, I’m usually a size 9.5 but I ordered a 10 and I believe going down a half size would’ve been better but I just wore a thicker sock to take care of that problem." —Amazon Customer

The straps are not padded, but are comfortable enough and stay where I’ve adjusted them to be. It seems sturdy. It’s also really reflective! I normally use liquid liners such as Kat Von D Tattoo, but this has drastically reduced the time it takes for me to create a winged look! I personally prefer a longer wing, but this stamp provides a template to work with and reduces the amount of time to create ‘sister’ wings — they’re pretty much twins now! reviewer with large chest wearing the one-piece suit with high waist bottoms connected to halter top

I think it depends on the person. I also kept the removable cups in for support. It needs to be tied tight around the neck to ensure the girls stay put." —Alicia
