    1. A handy grout pen – with a little elbow grease, it can get your stained grout lines on your tiled floors and walls looking like new again. Its formula is mold-resistant and one pen can cover up to 60 meters of grout area.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Just a note, this does take some elbow grease and time to actually do (one of my colleagues did it to her bathroom and it took her a few hours) but in comparison to actually regrouting your whole floor — this is a total time-saver.

Promising review: "I have 12-inch white tile in my whole house that is 20 years old. Even though I have kept it looking nice, the grout still was getting dark. I cleaned the grout and let it dry good 'til the next day then used the grout pen. It looks like it is brand-new. One thing that I found out was that if the tip of the pen starts to look worn you can just pull it out and turn it over — it is the same tip on both ends. It will take some time to do the whole house but it looks so great that I will just do a section at a time 'til I finish. One other thing that I did was run my finger down the grout line after I apply the grout pen then wipe down the tile line with a paper towel so no other cleanup was necessary." —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $8.99 (available in three colors and two sizes).

    2. A restorative Howard Products Wood Polish & Conditioner that uses beeswax to help give luster to any wood surface — floors, tables, legs...whatever! If you're looking to bring new life to your worn floors you might want to try this before calling on some professionals.

    amazon.com, Amazon

Promising review: "This product is worth every penny and goes a very long way. We had tired, oak floors that haven’t been refinished in over 50 years. They were dried out and washed out. This product took away decades in an hour with a few rags and a lot of elbow grease. One word of caution, floors are very slippery for a few days after. Be very careful walking around. Bonus, it smells amazing. It has a natural orange peel smell that is fresh and clean and not at all harsh or chemical. Highly, highly recommend." —GMD

Get it from Amazon for $13.98.

    3. A genius and super discreet three-outlet power strip – a super easy project you can do to disguise your plugs and make them a little more seamless. As far as DIY projects go this one is as easy as it gets, you just need to plug it in.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "Did y’all know they made these?!? Okay, I was moving some furniture around in the guest room and my beautiful bride just wasn’t happy with how far the dresser stood out from the wall because of the TV plug. She said there has to be some way to fix that in this day and time. Know what? She was right! I did some searching on the old internet and found these. I put it on the outlet behind the dresser and shoved it into place. Just so y’all know, the wall plug is indeed flat and it’s designed to cover the whole plug when you use it. Please don’t ask me how thin or thick it is, cause I already put it behind the dresser and I dang shore ain’t about to pull it out to measure it for someone’s question. Just know that it’s flatter’n a bug in a windscreen and works great!" —James P.

Get it from Amazon for $23.95+ (available in three sizes and with or without surge).

    4. A versatile Katzco Furniture Repair Kit for anyone lookin' to freshen up their wooden doors, furniture, or fixtures without having to replace them. It comes complete with six wood markers and six wax sticks all designed to match whatever wood you need fixed.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "Despite our consistent efforts, it took almost a year to teach our new dog to not jump up on the back door. And as you can see in the first picture, he managed to do a lot of scratching. That's why I bought this marker kit, to repair those scratches. I used 'oak,' a lighter color, on the scratches. I did have to go over them again to completely cover them. That's what you see in the second picture, and it took me about 10 minutes total. I bought the kit with the wax crayons as I hoped to fill in the scratches too, I read in another review that it's possible but takes a lot of work. Unless I'm looking for the defects, I no longer notice the scratches (and mind you, these are at eye level) so this did the job I wanted." —P. Ratliff

Get a set of 13 markers and wax sticks from Amazon for $9.99.

    5. A roll of very handy window screen repair tape, a temporary (or not so temporary) way to repair small cuts or tears in your screen door without having to replace the whole thing.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "This RHO screen repair tape is fabulous and simple to use! Just cut to size, pull off the clear protective film, and press onto the tear or hole in your screen. That's it! There are 15 feet on a roll and it couldn't be easier. I've patched my screened porch now in five-six spots and while the tape is visible, it prevents bugs from crawling through, which was my goal. If you don't have the time, money, or inclination to completely replace a screen, this is the perfect solution...and the fastest! Will buy again in a heartbeat if I run out of this roll." —sallywally

Get it from Amazon for $9.99+ (available in two colors).

    6. A low VOC, low odor, water-based acrylic DIY paint kit so you can upgrade any of your countertops to faux granite in just about a weekend worth of work. It's ideal to help cover Formica, laminate, Corian, ceramic tile, butcher blocks, cultured marble, and traditional granite counters.

    amazon.com

One kit covers 35 square feet (16 linear feet of standard 24" wide counters), the typical surface area of most kitchen countertops.

Promising review: "This product is easy-to-use and I found the instructions simple to follow. The kit comes with almost everything you need, although you will also need some painter's tape. Prepping your countertops and surrounding surfaces is vital to the success of this project. FOLLOW the INSTRUCTIONS. Applying the minerals takes the longest, as you can add more of any color for the desired look, cover mistakes or make changes using the sponges (included). Take your time and use the color minerals in your kit until you have exactly the look you want. I applied two coats of the glitter topcoat, but, decided to apply epoxy for extra protection and shine. IT WAS WELL WORTH IT! I love the transformation. My sister was so impressed, she purchased a kit to do her bathroom countertops as well." —London M.

Get it from Amazon for $79+ (available in four colors).

    7. A set of magnetic decorative hinges to give your garage door that carriage look without that carriage price — and they're magnetic so they don't require any drilling or tools, just stick them on and bam! Instant curb appeal.

A customer review before and after photo showing garage door with and without the hinges
    amazon.com

Promising review: "The only thing I don’t like is that kids think they are real and walk up and try to hang on the handles, which obviously just come right off. I have to admit it’s hysterical, it does teach the kids to quit messing around with things they shouldn’t because they think they break them... it’s downright comical. Other than that, you would never know they are magnetic. They stay on, you can pull them off easily to wash the doors and then just put right back on. Heavy rains and they didn’t come off. It’s -20 degrees outside now, and they're still stuck on with no problems. I got three sets — one double door and one single door, looks perfect." —Rummy3

Get it from Amazon for $18.99+ (available in five styles/combos).

    8. A roll of customizable liners designed to easily be cut to fit your drawers and hold your spices in place.

I think this will be my go-to gift for all of my friends who love cooking as much as I do! Freeing up cabinet space and having something that can easily be rinsed off in the sink makes this a for-sure buy!" —momonono

    10. A guided gallery wall kit that includes everything you need to create one — including seven frames, a hanging template, hardware, and even some pretty black-and-white prints that you can use or replace.

    amazon.com

Promising review: "I love this set! It was delivered quickly, all of the frames and glass came in perfect condition. My favorite part of the entire thing was the guide it came with. After putting the pictures in the frames, I hung the guide, made sure it was level, and drilled the holes right into the paper. Everything came out level, the frames and pictures look great. Definitely happy with this purchase." —Cristina C Sanchez

Get it from Amazon for $49.99+ (available in three finishes).

A customer review before and after photo of their dishwasher

Promising review: "I normally don’t write reviews for products, but this one was amazing! I’m in the process of moving out of my apartment in NYC (is there anything worse?) and I needed to fill a few holes I made with wall anchors. I have zero handy experience but this product was so easy to use. I really only gave it 70% effort and the results were pretty good (my apartment is super old). If you bother to paint over (I didn’t) it’s definitely good as new. A renter's dream." —Tina Liu

Get it from Amazon for $5.98.

    13. A pretty hard to screw up liquid stainless-steel fridge kit that'll help transform your giant icebox in just about three coats.

A before and after photo showing their fridge updated with the chrome paint
    Amazon

Promising review: "Absolutely LOVE this liquid stainless-steel paint! I had a black textured fridge, so I was nervous about how it would look, but it turned out great! Very easy to use. I removed the door handles (and primed them, as recommended, before painting), removed the bottom grill and snapped off the water/ice dispenser (I did not paint them). Cleaned the fridge and started rolling on the paint, then used the 11-inch foam tool to make it pretty! I did five coats (but really could have stopped at three). Then did three coats of the topcoat. I really did not notice a difference between one and three coats of the topcoat. I did all sides and the top of the fridge and still have enough left over for my double oven. Everyone has been impressed!" —robert

Get it from Amazon for $66.73.

    14. A pack of three nylon brushes you attach to your drill for a super scrub you thought was only possible by professionals.

    amazon.com

Promising review: "Save yourself a lot of money — DIY your own grout! Saved myself hundreds of dollars! Have you ever priced those grout cleaning companies? Crazy! Did it myself — a section at a time, but did a large home in two days and the results were amazing. I consider myself a 'clean' person, vacuuming and mopping several times a week. The dirt these brushes got up from my floors was amazing (and disgusting). Recommended them to my friends that night at dinner!" —Mary

Get it from Amazon for $14.95+ (available in six bristle types).

    15. A soft matte and totally cozy chalked paint so you can update your old and tattered hand-me-down furniture with a fun and unique upgrade.

    amazon.com, Amazon

Promising review: "I'm slowly doing a DIY remodel on the upstairs of my house. I'm basically taking everything we own and giving it an upgrade. I got this paint for many things — one of those being my dining room table. I do A LOT of crafting. I redid my kitchen myself, including my cabinets, and went from oak to glazed antique. So I'm familiar with paints, sealants, and stains. I use paint daily. And I use chalk paint the most. And this is my favorite. The quality is great and the coverage is better than any other out there. I'm not going to bash any other name brands in a review but I am so happy I found a chalk paint that I don't have to slather on and waste and that doesn't give me that thick, goopy look. I got linen white for my table legs and I got charcoal for my tabletop and seat tops. I also used the charcoal on a lot of the accent pieces in my dining room." —Kimber

Get it from Amazon for $16.01+ (available in 12 colors).

    16. A vinyl "leaded-glass" film that'll give your windows and glass doors a little more privacy while looking super expensive.

Promising review: "This film was just what I needed. It provides enough privacy without blocking light. I didn’t have any problems with it not sticking to the window. You just have to make sure the windows are very clean and remember to peel off the backing and spray lots of water before sticking it on the glass!!! I used an old credit card as a squeegee to get rid of the air bubbles. The application was very easy. I highly recommend this product!!!" —Selenable

I've been wanting to change out the two can lights over my sink for years, so I started investigating the easiest possible way to do so. Ran across this item, and watched the video on YouTube. What the heck, I thought! Rewatched the video before installation, looked at the directions on both the converter kit and the pendant light, gathered the necessary tools described in all instructions, and set upon my mission. The hardest part (for me) was getting the self-tapping screws started. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome, I must say! By the way, I'm a 55-year-old female who has worked at a bank all of my life. 20. A long-lasting caulk sealant to reseal all those unsightly cracks in your tub and tile.

    Amazon, amazon.com

Promising review: "I'm a newbie when it comes to home improvement and I wasn't sure how to caulk my tub but I watched YouTube videos and thought I could figure it out. I scraped off all the old caulk with a utility knife/scraper (this took about two hours because I had multiple levels of caulk). I added painter's blue tape to create a line so that after caulking I would just remove the blue tape without an issue (similar to painting). Then I proceeded to use this caulk. No gun needed. Just open and squeeze. I used my wet finger to press down to make sure it is completely in. Immediately after, I removed the blue painter's tape and waited 72 hours until it was dry. Then I applied the Sashco Sealants Clear Lexel Adhesive Caulk, I added this because I wanted an extra level of protection. This is clear and you cannot see the mess at all so I didn't use the painter's blue tape. I waited another 72 hours. It all worked out beautifully and now my tub has perfectly white edges all around. It has held up very well. I did this about four months ago." —Rose S

Get it from Amazon for $13.19.

    21. A fillable touch-up paint pen for those quick fixes on anything that's showing signs of wear and tear.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "These were a lifesaver when I was painting stripes and using stencils. I loved how easy they were to fill and use. My lines look super crisp because I was able to do small touch-ups with these pens. I’ve already ordered another package." —Tiff Reagan

Get a pack of two from Amazon for $9.99.

    22. A peel-and-stick subway tile backsplash to give your kitchen (or bathroom) an upgrade that doesn't require any actual tiling work.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I have planned to install a backsplash in our kitchen for a long time now but I hate tiling and grouting. I did a ton of research on vinyl peel and stick tile and knew it would be the best product for me. No mess, quick install, don't have to seal any grout, and overall a simple process. I watched a lot of install videos and purchased a cutting mat, a good box cutter, and a straight edge. The most tedious part is overlapping the grout lines, you do have to be a perfectionist and patient for this part or the tiles will look off. I knew I would be caulking around all the edges so I didn't focus on making the edge tiles straight because if they were uneven at the bottom they would be covered by caulk but you have to keep them as level as possible. Overall the project took about half a day and I do get compliments on it." —xliu

Get a 10-pack of 12x12 panels from Amazon for $27.19.

    23. Or go for a peel-and-stick faux-gel tile backsplash that's mold-, heat-, and moisture-resistant.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "We did a kitchen facelift this summer, repainting and making everything look fresh. We were looking at The Home Depot version of these, which are more than double the price. We decided to go for these instead and they are amazing!! I put them up myself in about two hours. I did buy the adhesive spray just in case but it wasn’t needed, even for the few I had to peel off and re-stick to center correctly. These aren’t too difficult to apply but definitely require patience. It is 100% worth the buy for a DIY affordable update!" —Hope Consilvio

    Get a 10-pack from Amazon for $35.99.

    24. An easily installed peel-and-stick wallpaper that can also be easily removed when it's time to get your security deposit back.

A customer review photo of their wall with the freshly installed wallpaper
    amazon.com

Promising review: "I'm very happy with this! The wall I put it on is about 9 ft. wide-by-8 ft. high, there is one window, and my baseboards are about 6 inches high — I ordered three rolls but only used two (with waste). Our house is VERY old so the walls are not flat and the corners are not an even 45 degrees, that's why I had more waste than I think I would have in a newer home. I did not have trouble matching the pattern (I recommend matching up the side from top to bottom then smoothing it out from there rather than going from top to bottom). I was able to cut around the windows with ease; repositioning was easy. It's a little awkward at first, but once you get the first piece up it the rest is easy. I did this myself and it took about two and half hours (it took about 40 minutes just to get started because our walls are so wonky, so I imagine a flat plumb wall would be much faster). I used a flat plastic paper-smoothing tool to smooth it out as well as the palms of my hands. I wouldn't hesitate to use this product again." —honesty

Get it from Amazon for $27.59.

    25. A one-day cabinet makeover kit to give your kitchen that just-remodeled feeling for pennies versus what it would cost to replace them.

A before and after customer review photo of their wood cabinets painted white
    amazon.com

Promising review: "Amazing! Amazing! Amazing. Did take more than one coat though. My cabinets were bare wood and I still needed a couple of coats. (Five to be exact, but that was just me being extra.) My kitchen is medium-sized, not too big, and it only took up one can. But I still went over a couple more times just to get a nice coating. I also let it sit for some days and saw the wood was sucking up the paint in some areas so I went over it again. The project ideally does take one day like the promotion video says, but one day as in 24 hours. This took my kitchen from looking like a cheap rental apartment kitchen to a high-quality kitchen with just this paint and new knobs. The paint is perfect for cabinets — it's not too thick, so you still see the wood grains. It comes with EVERYTHING you need. I didn't have to buy a thing. The project is super easy, paint dries fast, and I did it at first by removing the cabinets but it wasn't necessary at all. Just make sure you don't leave any dripping because it would make your cabinets look cheap. I would recommend EVERYONE to purchase this and give your cabinets a chance before making a big investment in new cabinets. Wood is wood and it can be refinished." —Brandon Moronta

Get it from Amazon for $69.95 (also available in gray, deep brown, mint, black, and white).

    26. And a roll of vinyl wrap film so you can also upgrade your old counters or tabletops — it's a temporary solution that'll last a long time and won't cost a small fortune.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "Easy to work with and looks amazing. Very happy with the product and my project. I put a thin coat of polyutherane, but I don't think it needs it since the paper seems very sturdy and the gloss finish is nice. I have already ordered two more rolls to finish my vanity and cover my drawers." —Johanna Calderon

Get the 16" x 6.5 ft. roll from Amazon for $6.99.
