Olivia Newton-John was 30 when she played the iconic role of Sandy, a character who was supposed to be 17.

Andrew Garfield was 27 at the time of filming _The Amazing Spider-Man_, in which he played a 17-year-old Peter Parker.

David Oyelowo, who played Martin Luther King Jr in _Selma_, was 38 when he got the role, 2 years older than King was at the time of the film's events.

Audrey Hepburn was actually 31 when she played the iconic role of Holly Golightly – a girl who was supposed to be 18.

Rachel McAdams was 25 when she was cast to play 16-year-old mean girl Regina.

At 24, Michael J Fox was 7 years older than his character in _Back to the Future_ – by the time the series ended, he was almost 30!

At 29, Troian is the oldest of the _Pretty Little Liars_, and is currently playing an 18-year-old.

Sissy Spacek was 27, more than 10 years older than her character, when she played 16-year-old telekinetic teen Carrie.

Yep, Dumbledore was supposed to be a grand old 115 years in _Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince_, and actor Michael Gambon was only 69.
