If you didn't know, Taylor Swift is in the middle of very mysteriously counting down to the release of a new single, and fans are basically in meltdown.
And we were all shook on Wednesday when Taylor was unveiled as one of the cover stars for TIME magazine's 100 Most Influential People issue.
The extremely soft photoshoot is accompanied by an adorable article written by none other than Taylor's friend Shawn Mendes.
They first met back when Shawn supported Taylor for a few dates of her 1989 World Tour, and have since become friends — she even brought him onstage as a special guest during her Reputation Stadium Tour last year.
In the TIME article, Shawn opens up about his friendship with Taylor, and describes what he thinks makes her such an iconic artist.
"I’ve been a Taylor Swift fan for as long as I can remember," he writes. "But it wasn’t until I met and got to know her that I understood how wonderful a person she truly is."
She’s the master of putting the perfect amount of thought into not overthinking, and that’s why her music connects so well. ... I quickly learned that the magic of Taylor Swift doesn’t come from the lights, dancers or fireworks (although all of that is incredible) but from the electrifying connection that she has with the people who are there to see her.
"Taylor makes anyone older feel young again and anyone young feel they can do anything," he goes on, calling her ability to connect with her fans "rare and special".
Honestly, get yourself friends who talk about you the way Shawn talks about Taylor.
