Let's face it: Natalie Portman and Jessica Simpson are the last people you'd expect to be involved in a celebrity feud, but since this is 2018 and nothing is normal any more, that's exactly what happened a couple of weeks ago.
Basically, Natalie did an interview in which she discussed the weird double standards for female celebrities in the early 2000s, and she mentioned Jessica specifically.
Then Jessica opened up her Twitter app and posted a statement saying she was "disappointed" to hear Natalie's comments, which she believed were "shaming" her for her expressing herself and being proud of her body.
But Natalie quickly squashed the beef with a comment on Jessica's Instagram post. "I didn't mean to shame you and I'm sorry for any hurt my words may have caused," she wrote.
We all thought that was that, but Natalie was asked about the almost-feud during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, and she had a little bit more to say about the situation.
She revealed that she hasn't spoken with Jessica since the incident, but did say she has "only respect and good feelings for her".
"There's no need for beef between women," she went on. "We're all in the same society and living with the same pressures. We're allies."
