This Artist Has Perfectly Reimagined Disney Animals With Human Personalities

Alaina Bastian’s art project Humanized imagines what beloved Disney animals would look like as their human counterparts.

1. Artist Alaina Bastian, in her series Humanized, has been reimagining animals from classic Disney movies as humans, complete with their own unique personalities.

3. Bastian was inspired to start the project by her friends’ race- and gender-bent Disney edits on Tumblr, she told BuzzFeed.

4. “I’ve also pulled a lot of inspiration – specifically for The Lion King and The Jungle Book – from the musical and live performances,” she said.

6. Her favourite piece is Duchess and Thomas O’Malley from The Aristocats, she said.

8. And she doesn’t just tackle the classics – Bastian has also reinterpreted the main characters from 2008’s Bolt.

9. “I decided to draw them in the styles of their movies,” she said, “and keep consistent shape language and features to interpret the character in a more thorough and believable way.”

11. Bastian told BuzzFeed that she plans on continuing the project, and is already working on sketches of Louis from The Princess and the Frog, as well as Mickey Mouse and Bambi.

13. “I’ve enjoyed drawing these beloved characters,” Bastian said, “and I hope everyone likes them.”
