Chrissy Teigen Has Lost Her Baby After She Was Hospitalised With Excessive Bleeding

In a post on Instagram, Chrissy called it "the darkest of days".

Chrissy Teigen has lost her baby following weeks of pregnancy complications that had led to her being hospitalised.

Chrissy and husband John Legend — who are already parents to Luna, 4, and Miles, 2 — announced the news in a post on Chrissy's Instagram account on Wednesday night, adding that they had named the baby Jack.

"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before," Chrissy wrote alongside a series of photos of the couple in hospital.

"We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions," she said. "It just wasn't enough."

"We never decide on our babies' names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital," Chrissy went on. "But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us."

"Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever," she added.

The post went on to address their son directly, with Chrissy saying she was "so sorry that the first few moments of [his] life were met with so many complications".

"To our Jack — I'm so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications," Chrissy wrote. "That we couldn't give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you."

"We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we've been able to experience," Chrissy said. "But everyday can't be full of sunshine."

"On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out," she added. "But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it."

Earlier this week, Chrissy informed her followers in an Instagram story that she had been hospitalised following almost a month of excessive bleeding.

"I guess in the simplest of terms, we can say my placenta is really, really weak," she explained at the time. "All we're trying to do now is making sure he's got a lot of fluid around him, and that I'm resting obviously as much as possible. It's just hard, because there's not much you can do. I'm in that weird in-between time of it being really dangerous to try anything."

"Yeah, it is scary, but it's scary in the way that there's nothing you can do," she went on. "I'm taking my progesterone, my iron — trust me, we're on it. We're trying everything we can."

The couple announced Chrissy's surprise pregnancy news in August in the music video for John's song "Wild".
