Snapchat’s New Update is the Perfect Excuse to Book a Vacation with your BFFs

Custom stories are changing the game.

Snapchat has created customizable Stories to share with your friends.

This update comes just weeks after adding infinity length snaps, the Magic Eraser, emoji drawing and loop videos. After shocking us all by adding limitless snaps, changing Snapchat forever, this next update is just as major.

All these changes are likely a result of the success of Instagram Stories, who launched an update this week as well. Snapchats user growth has slowed due to the competitor.

The feature, which launched May 23, allows the user to create custom Stories. Either the Story is limited to a certain location or shared directly with a group of friends. This means everyone at a certain event or in a certain area can share their pictures or videos within a specific story.

“Today we’re announcing a new way to create Custom Stories — about anything, with any of your friends, even for a specific location! It’s perfect for a trip, a birthday party, or a new baby story just for the family," Snapchat said in a press release.

The story is live for 24 hours and the user can control the area with a “GeoFence.” This allows friends and friends of friends to view and add to the story. After it is created the option will appear within the app to those that have been given access, just like adding your own Story.

If you prefer a private Story, the new feature allows the creator to add friends specifically, regardless of their location. This way you can select who can view and contribute.

This new feature will seriously shake up parties, events and trips. It’s a great way to confine Snaps of the event to one place. You no longer have to see the same game of beer bong or inaudible concert clips over and over again from different Stories.
