    Here Are 29 Projects That Disney Announced This Weekend

    This weekend was the D23 Expo where a lot of new projects were announced! Here's a comprehensive list of everything that's coming soon to screens near you!

    1. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

    Disney

    Release date: In theaters on Oct. 18, 2019

    Cast: Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

    What it's about: After Aurora and Prince Phillip get engaged, Maleficent wages war on Queen Ingrith after she declared Aurora to be her own.

    Release date: On Disney+ on Nov. 12, 2019

    Cast: Kristen Bell

    What it's about: The show “brings together former castmates of high school musicals, tasking them with re-creating their original performance years after they last performed it, in a high school reunion like no other."

    3. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

    Release date: On Disney+ on Nov. 12, 2019.

    Cast: Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, and Matt Cornett.

    What it's about: The mockumentary follows Miss Jenn and the students of East High School as they put on a production of High School Musical.

    What it's about: The show follows Jeff traveling around the world as he learns about things from ice cream to tattoos to denim.

    5. Lady and the Tramp

    What it's about: An upper-middle class dog and a lower class dog meet and fall in love.

    6. The Mandalorian

    What it's about: A lone Mandalorian bounty hunter travels the outskirts of the galaxy after the fall of the Empire.

    What it's about: Santa's daughter, Noelle, is tasked with getting her brother, Nick, back to the North Pole in order to save Christmas.

    What it's about: Elsa & co. go on a journey to discover where her powers came from in order to save Arendelle.

    9. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

    10. Black Widow

    What it's about: The origin story of Natasha/Black Widow.

    11. Soul

    Release date: In theaters in June 19, 2020.

    What it's about: Joe Garner is an aspiring jazz musician. On the cusp of his big break, his soul gets separated from this body and ends up in the "You Seminar." Now, with the help of the passionless 22, Joe has to find a way to reconnect his soul with his body.

    12. Jungle Cruise

    What it's about: Frank, a riverboat captain, enlists the help of Lily, a scientist, and her brother McGregor to find the Tree of Life...all while fending off dangerous animals and a competing German expedition.
