6. NICKI MINAJ
Her genre definition is the same as her multiple personalities. She cannot be defined as one specific genre. She has hardcore just rapping songs, ballads of her just singing, and even pop anthems. Nicki bounces from one place to another when she switches from spitting fire to belting out her choruses. How can an artist go back and forth like this and not be labeled in their own genre?
She might be known as the queen of rap and things of that nature, but girl dips her ass into all different types of music.
5. SAM HUNT
New to the country music scene, Sam Hunt widens the label of a traditional country music star. His songs break the model of what is being sung in the genre currently. Good ole Samuel likes to talk and the spontaneously break out into song giving listeners a surprise worth listening for, but is he just country?
He jumps the border of country and fans shy to the genre might want to get their feet wet after hearing Sam's tunes.
Barbadian pop princess jumps from one genre to the next without anyone blinking an eye. Her hits have gone from an all out pop explosion to edgy almost hip hop and island reggae. Some even gave RiRi country creds for FourFive Seconds.
Rihanna is a genre all her own and it can't be defined. She steps right over the barriers without even blinking an eye. Bitch better have her own genre because it is indescribable.
3. JUSTIN BIEBER
How can you define a singer that begins before his boys drop and then sounds completely different after they do? The Biebs has leaped from pop to rap to r&b and then back again. He will attempt a rap in some songs or belt out a slow ballad or jam out with the tween population.
It its clear that Bieber fever currently has no cure and whatever genre he is, he is doing it well. Justin's prepubescent and current works have placed him in the running to get his own genre as well as his stylings in many different types of music. With new work coming soon, maybe he'll add more genres onto his list.
Being that her name can be used as an adjective, she should probably have her own genre as well. Queen Bey might not hop across two many genres but she has a sound that is all her own that has not been replicated by anyone else. Her music is just Beyonce and anyone would know when a song is by her.
When it comes down to it, the world just accepts that Beyoncé can do whatever the hell she wants. Her next album could be her singing the dictionary and it would go platinum in 12 minutes. She deserves her own label and no one else would be apart of it. She is her own genre.
1. TAYLOR SWIFT
Taylor has actually declared different genre for her various albums. Peeps used to get mad that she was considered country when some/most of her songs crossed over between radio stations. Maybe this is because she needs her own genre. All the confusion is unnecessary, her music is just HER and there is actually no other way to explain it. In one album and even one song, TS can create an obstacle course weaving between genres that listeners enjoy but cannot put into a category, which is why she deserves a genre to herself.
Breaking records left and right, clearly no one has a problem that Taylor brakes the mold with every song she creates. She is incomparable to other artists and her music has a sound that is all its own. Every song has a new sound to it and every album sounds completely different. Any mood that a person is in, there is a Swift song for it. She simply cannot just fit in one type of music, so she gets her own.
