Let's take a short walk down memory lane.

You remember Mase, aka Mason Betha, don't you?

Those pearly whites, that dimple, that charisma? Alongside his boss, Puff Daddy, Mase — excuse me, Ma$e — was a star during Bad Boy's heyday.

His flow was kinda lazy, but he had the HITS. His first solo album Harlem World, debuted No. 1 in 1997 and went four times platinum.

"Lookin' At Me," "Feel So Good," "What You Want" ... The list is exhaustive, and we won't even mention his guest appearances on songs with Mariah Carey, Brian McKnight, 112, Brandy, and many other pop and R&B stars.

There was a brief, forgettable comeback in 2004 with this clean rap attempt "Welcome Back."

And he spent some time running with G-Unit. 50 Cent says he legit tried to sign Ma$e, but evil lord Puffy would not release Ma$e from his Bad Boy contract. Dig this: Ma$e says it took him 16 years to get free.

Fast forward 10 years, and Ma$e is laying the groundwork for a comeback.

Since 2012, he's been building buzz by dropping cameo verses like this remix of Miguel's "Adorn," releasing singles here and there, and even popping up for surprise performances, like his 2013 reunion with Diddy at Drake's OVO Fest.

But he's done toying with the idea: Ma$e just dropped the video for "Nothing," an upbeat record with hitmaker Eric Bellinger.

The song, an ode to independent women who "don't need a man for nothing," is a summer banger. It will rock in the club, or in your car on your way to the beach! It has the sort of chorus with sing-along parts for men and women! And most important, it proves that Ma$e has not missed a beat. (The video also features Malaysia Pargo of Basketball Wives fame, if you happen to care about that kind of thing.)
