Billboard, the magazine behind that music awards show you just watched, uses science to determine which track was the year's "Song Of The Summer." Below are some interesting facts about their results...

1. Katy Perry has two Songs Of The Summer but Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus have zero.

2. “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince wasn’t 1991’s Song Of The Summer but “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” by Bryan Adams was.

3. “Macarena” beat out 2Pac’s “How Do You Want It” and “California Love” in 1996.

4. “Alone” by Heart topped Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” for Song Of The Summer in 1987.

5. "Alone" also beat out George Michael’s “I Want Your Sex” and “Who’s That Girl” by Madonna.

6. “Regulate” by Warren G & Nate Dogg, “Fantastic Voyage” by Coolio, and Aaliyah’s “Back and Forth” were beat out by “I Swear” by All-4-One in 1994’s Song Of The Summer contest.

7. "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx was the Song Of The Summer in 1989 and "Cold Hearted" By Paula Abdul wasn't.

8. Lifehouse, Train, and O-Town had songs land in 2001’s Song Of The Summer top 10 chart but “Lady Marmalade by Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mýa, and Pink didn’t make it.

9. "Bent" by Matchbox Twenty was no. 1 and ‘N Sync’s iconic “It’s Gonna Be Me” was no. 2 in the summer of 2000.

10. Michael Jackson and Britney Spears have never had a track make it into the top 10 of any Song Of The Summer chart.
