And you thought Siberia was just mammoth tusks and suspicious meteorite crash sites. The Mir Mine is the largest open pit diamond mine in the world, clocking in at 1722 feet deep and 3900 feet wide. At its zenith workers were extracting over 10,000,000 carats per year.
