Still in their developmental infancy, solar films generate only about 20% of the electricity of their traditional counterparts. However, they do block out up to 80% of visible light, making it easier to keep your home cool in the summer.
At half the cost of traditional panels, they can be applied to any existing window surface and will go on sale in 2012.
