This gem in the heart of the city is full of amazing attractions, picturesque places, and kid-friendly activities. Not to be missed are the pedal boats on Stow Lake, the Japanese Tea Garden, and the fantastical carousel built in 1914. If you want to sneak in a little learning (still fun!), there's the California Science Academy.

2. Park Guell, Barcelona

Yes, this one requires a trip to Spain, but once there, the Park Guell is not to be missed. Designed by architect Antonio Gaudi, it's described as a playground for the mind, and neither children nor adults can resist its charms. Look for the gingerbread gatehouses and the giant ceramic dragon on the stairs.

One of the oldest urban parks in the U.S., New Orleans City Park beckons with 1,300 acres of green space and a myriad of kid-friendly fun. The park's Carousel Gardens features an historic carousel with "flying horses" while Storyland offers kids the chance to play with larger-than-life storybook sculptures.

These gorgeous gardens in the heart of the city offer up a break from bustling streets of Paris. Kids can unwind on the imaginative playgrounds, catch a puppet show at one of the pop-up theaters, or sail wooden boats across the pond. Or get your game on at one of the many sports courts or chess tables.

Trains, ponies, caves, and a carousel ... oh my! This massive park in the middle of sprawling Los Angeles is five times bigger than NYC's Central Park. It's also home to the Griffith Observatory and Planetarium where kids can gaze up at the stars or down on the City of Angeles. Bonus: Walt Disney dreamed up Disneyland while watching his kids ride the carousel.
