    Personalizing The Recruitment Process

It’s Monday morning and after what you thought had been a very long hour, you look at the clock to find it has been only ten minutes.

So many of us find ourselves in this dragging cycle from nine to five, from the commute to work, to sleep, and to work again. When Sundays bring dread for Monday and when weekends become the only source of relief, we can begin to recognize that we aren’t exactly on the right path. With a large majority of our days spent at work, it’s a shame when we aren’t able to fulfill our highest calling and potential for joy in these spaces. What happened to the little girl who dreamed of becoming a famous soccer player or the young boy who spoke of becoming an astronaut with a sparkle in his eye? At our source, we are passionate individuals and our dreams are meant to create the fullest and most engaging lives imaginable. If only we tap into this source, we can reconnect with the things that make us feel alive and bring greater depth into our lives.

Although, for those of you who have found the courage to follow your dreams, it can feel as though something is working against you. In today’s recruitment market, there is a multitude of job postings, inviting you to apply for your dream job and show off your skills. Each site asks for you to disclose your personal data and although it is meant to serve you along the recruitment process, you don’t really know what your data is being used for and where it is going. With these generic questions, you also don’t know if your abilities are really being communicated to the recruiter, or if you are just another number. After spending a good amount of time writing the perfect cover letter, you finish the application and click submit. In one click, the connection you have just made has just been lost.

It’s about time we talk about the recruitment market and address how it can better serve the individual. We all have our own set of skills and the capacity to contribute in a positive way. Although, with the centralized control of a handful of recruitment sites, we are not being considered on an individual level and our needs are not being met. Instead of serving as a source of human potential, the market is serving as a human database.

College graduates might be feeling this especially hard. After making a huge investment in your future, learning new skills, taking part in internships, and meaningful organizations, and living on few hours of sleep, you start the job search and what do you find? “Must have five years of experience.” What is my degree even good for then, you may ask.

Pre-defined job descriptions are incredibly limiting and discouraging to many hard-working, capable people. The recruitment market must shift to a more nuanced way of being, serving individuals and their unique qualifications. Luckily, innovators are paving the way to a more purpose-driven future for the industry. Lifetask is a competency resource that is based on human talent and the mission to support the job seeker and his or her potential. The service was built to restore control back to the job seeker. Its founding members went through the common path of working to pay the bills, and found their calling in creating a platform for everyone to honor their purpose in the spirit of an engaging vocation.

So, how does it work? Lifetask’s artificial intelligence system will match competence providers with competence seekers based on a variety of needs, on both ends. Next, the matched parties can decide to interact, and communicate their terms, or move on to the next match. Negotiations take place through smart contracts on the blockchain. Smart contracts allow exchanges to take place without the middleman of a central authority. The code of these contracts takes place on the blockchain, producing a transparent and secure exchange.

Put simply, the blockchain is a database of encrypted blocks of code, keeping record of every block before it, and distributing the information across a complicated array of networks. Committed to a fully decentralized blockchain based model, Lifetask ensures that each individual platform user will be fully in control of their data and with whom they choose to share it. The direct impact is the elimination of the constant need of a broker to get both parties to where they need to be. Instead, a lasting connection is created between both parties.

According to Lucas Hubert, CEO of Lifetask MSc, BSc (Hons), “This will the game changer in the industry and over the next 2 years we hope to roll this out across Europe and then across the world, making LifeTask a future household name in the recruitment industry.”
