Music Review: Joanne - Lady Gaga

Sit back and enjoy the sounds of a more mature Mother Monster.

After a jaw dropping Sound of Music tribute at the 2015 Oscars, winning a golden globe for her role as the Countess in American Horror Story: Hotel, and paying tribute to David Bowie at the 2016 Oscars, this exposition of pure raw talent culminated in the release of her most personal and heart wrenching album to date.

Fret not long time fans; there are still plenty of pop-gaga sounds throughout the album; from the heavy pop anthem Perfect Illusion, to the self-loving dance-floor bop Dancin’ in Circles, or the needs-to-be-the-next-single standout Diamond Heart.

However, its Joanne’s more personal, stripped down tracks, such as the album titled track Joanne (a tribute to her late aunt), Million Reasons (an ode to her fans), and Angel Down (a nod to black lives matter), which hit the hardest and haunt the listeners after every play.

Besides the music, the Joanne era has been the highlight of the Lady's career. Performing at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show, delivering an earth-shattering Superbowl show, and now, announced as a Coachella headliner - she is constantly proving that she is one of the best performers of our generation.
