The TSA has released a comprehensive list of all the weapons seized at US airports last year.

Loaded guns, swords, grenades and a suicide bomber’s vest were among the items confiscated.

In total 1,813 firearms were found in luggage in 2013 – equivalent to almost five guns a day. 81% of the guns were loaded

Atlanta topped the list for the most firearms intercepted with 111.

People just really wanted to bring their guns with them...

These bizarre canisters of ‘black powder’ were also discovered in baggage checked in at Chicago Midway.

And this ‘inert’ suicide vest was discovered in Indianapolis.

The vest turned out to belong to an explosives officer and had been used as a training aid. Unsurprisingly, TSA officers were less than impressed when it turned up at the airport.

People tried to bring all kinds of inert explosives onto planes, including IEDs, Claymore mines, even a World War II bazooka round...

Throwing knives and stars seemed particularly fashionable...

TSA officers regularly found weapons hidden or disguised as other objects, such as sword canes, credit card knives and belt buckle knives.

In total, TSA officers screened more than 638million people last year, equivalent to 1.7million a day. Some of the passengers decided stun guns disguised as mobile phones would be a great thing to bring onto their flight.

Someone even tried to bring a mace on board.

But amazingly that wasn't the strangest item discovered in 2013...

At Fort Lauderdale they found a human skull!

The fragments were found inside clay pots a passenger had just purchased, although they claimed they had no idea about the skull.
