A Kangaroo Ran Away In Austria And, No, That Wasn't A Typo

So cold. So very, very cold.

This is the face of a kangaroo* who is a long way from home.

"Is someone missing a kangaroo?" Gerlinde Putzinger wrote on Facebook after being shocked to see the Australian marsupial hopping about in the snow in her backyard in Maria Schmolln in northwest Austria on Tuesday.

The roo, named Anton, escaped from his owner a few weeks ago, state broadcaster ORF reported, and has evaded capture ever since.

Given the freezing winter conditions, there were concerns over how long poor Anton could last, given he's evolved to be acclimatized to more... Australian conditions.

This is all, of course, devastating news to the Austrian tourist souvenir industry, which has for years sold some hilarious wares.

Even U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon will have to now apologize, after he stated definitively, "There are no kangaroos in Austria," during a visit to the country in November — after he confused it with the land Down Under.

But, in a post on Wednesday evening, Gerlinde reported that Anton is back home after being captured by his owner. A happy ending!

Anton would do best to watch this clip so he doesn't get confused by the whole Austria/Australia thing again.
