Right, that’s true. That happened with Nurse Jackie too and when Edie Falco win she kind of protested that she didn’t deserve a comedy Emmy and there was talk of a “dramedy” category. I mean funny things happen on lots of shows, but that doesn’t make them comedies per se. I guess I just feel like it’s unfair to Amy Poehler and Tina Fey who do these really great and funny comedy-comedies to have to compete with this critically-acclaimed, much-discussed drama that everyone who votes just loves, because they’re completely different kinds of shows.
Can we please talk about why Girls is categorized under comedies? Maggie Smith is doing more of a comedic performance on Downton Abbey than Adam Driver on Girls. I’m not saying it’s not a good show, but it’s in the wrong category, and that sucks.
