    If you're a bookworm or love getting book recommendations from the masses, you're probably familiar with BookTok. For those who aren't, BookTok is a subcommunity on TikTok that deals in everything book-related. If you're looking for book reviews, recommendations, fan art, or just funny videos about your favorite series, BookTok is the place for you.

    Not to flex, but I've read a good amount of popular BookTok books, and there are a few that I actually hated with a passion (*ahem* Ugly Love). But, others have been absolutely phenomenal and I unhealthily think about them almost every day. Here's a list of BookTok books you'll end up not wanting to put down.

    1. The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

    Let me start with the fact that I love this book so much I want to get a tattoo inspired by it. This book was published in 2011 and is a retelling and adaptation of Homer's Iliad. Told in Patroclus's POV, this story follows the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus leading up to the Trojan war, so if you're really into Greek myths and stories, definitely check this book out. Side note: have a box of tissues with you at all times.

    2. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

    If you haven't heard of the Grishaverse, I need you to pay attention. Six of Crows is the first book of a duology, and a spin-off of the Shadow & Bone Trilogy. There's also another duology called The King of Scars but let me stop myself before I get too excited. Six of Crows is an amazing book and a great introduction to fantasy and the Grishaverse as a whole (though I do recommend reading all the books in chronological order first). Six of Crows is all about magic, thievery, heists, and found family. If you want a multi-POV book where you'll get lost in the world-building and fall in love with the characters, go get Six of Crows immediately. Then afterward, you can watch the Shadow & Bone Netflix adaptation, which features the Crows and other wonderful Grishaverse characters in action!

    3. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

    I originally read this book on the Kindle app but I loved it so much that I went out and bought a special edition physical copy. This book is simply drop-dead gorgeous. The writing is superb and it's truly a story. Basically, this naive girlboss named Addie LaRue made a deal with a demon back in 1714 because she wanted out of her little village in France so she could be free and do girlboss things. Of course, this bargain comes with some strings. Addie is basically immortal, so the book follows her through different time periods as she experiences the world and meets different people. But, everyone she meets eventually forgets about her, meaning Addie LaRue basically doesn't exist. This story explores love, loneliness, regret, and everything in between.

    4. Beach Read by Emily Henry

    I am an Emily Henry stan, and in my opinion, Beach Read is her best book to date. If you're in need of a fun, feel-good, rom-com that also dabbles in grief and loss, Beach Read is THAT girl. After her father passes away, January spends some time at his beach house and finds out her neighbor is one of her rivals from college, Augustus. January and Gus are authors — January writes romantic comedies and Gus writes...not that. They bicker and try to out-wit each other until January dares Gus to write a rom-com and Gus dares January to write a dark literary fiction. Beach Read is the perfect book for those looking for something not too serious, something cute, something funny, and something very real.

    5. The House In the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

    If you're a fan of YA books or books in general, do yourself a favor and read The House In The Cerulean Sea. Set in a world where magical beings exist, Linus Baker is a caseworker for a governmental organization that oversees magical orphaned children. Everything for Linus is pretty bleak until he's thrown into an assignment that takes him to an orphanage on Marsyas Island where he meets an extraordinary group of children and a mysterious but charming headmaster, Arthur. This book isn't the *most* popular BookTok book, but it had me on the floor for multiple reasons. If you want a book that'll make you feel happy, warm, and soft inside, read The House In The Cerulean Sea.

    6.Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

    The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas is — and I'm not afraid to say it — better than Maas's more popular series, A Court of Thorns and Roses. Both series are high fantasy books, but what I love about Throne of Glass is that the romance isn't at the forefront of the plotlines. Don't worry, there's still a lot of steamy tension and some spice, but this series is an amazing mix of action, adventure, romance, politics, war, magic, and all the other ingredients that make an amazing story. Including the prequel, Assassin's Blade, there are eight books in the series and I promise you'll devour them all. Fun fact: Sarah J. Maas started writing Throne of Glass when she was 16!

    7. Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

    Another popular BookTok book that got picked up to be adapted into a show, Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid is a fiction book uniquely written in interview format. The novel is loosely inspired by Fleetwood Mac, as the book follows the rise and fall of the fictional '70s rock group, Daisy Jones & The Six. TJR is known for her gripping characters and visceral settings, and you might be more familiar with her other novel, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Daisy Jones & The Six adaptation recently released on Amazon Prime with Sam Claflin — the book adaptation king himself — starring alongside stars like Riley Keough and Suki Waterhouse!
