The Danish empire of construction-based toys has announced that the next in its range of themed series will be released in 2014. Although there's no word yet on which iconic Springfield towns or locations will feature, Lego spokesman Roar Rude Trangbaek said that he hopes the series will "appeal to fans of 'The Simpsons' family."
Exciting news for Simpsons fans, but a corner of Lego fandom is already up in arms about the news, calling into question the suitability of a show that liberally uses phrases like 'Eat My Shorts' being associated with the iconic childrens' brand.
One fansite member said, "I say no to Simpsons. It's not appropriate at all for LEGO's age group. It's not really appropriate for anyone."
Another wrote: "I don't want to see LEGO, known for being child appropriate, change into something like this."
