31 Things That'll Make Other Dog Owners Ask, "Where'd You Get That?"

Dog ownership isn't a competition...buuuuuttt it doesn't hurt to have a leg up with the best tools for the job.

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

    1. A machine-washable car bench seat pet cover if you love taking your dog on outdoor adventures but hate the wet, muddy, and furry price your back seat pays every time. The next person who sees how clean your car will probably go out and immediately buy one for themselves.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

It also comes with a seatbelt dog chain!

Promising review: "Got this for my greyhound who rides in the back seat of a 2012 Kia Soul. It fits perfectly and will be easy to remove whenever I need the back seat for passengers. The Velcro slit in the middle of the bottom is in the perfect position to hook the included dog strap to the middle seat belt, which is a huge plus since it keeps my dog from trying to get in the front seat, flying around in case of an accident, or rushing out when I open the back door, which with a dog as fast as a greyhound can be a real issue. The price was great, delivery was really fast, and it's better than I expected — couldn't ask for any more." —Solom01

Get it from Amazon for $28.99.

    2. A hooded rain poncho in a wide range of too-cute prints so your pup can look dapper for the neighbors and (more importantly) stay dry when it's time for walkies and a rain shower hits.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I really love this raincoat and so does my dog! She hates going outside when it's raining and she actually gets excited when I pull this out for her. We've received a bunch of compliments on it and it works really well! I would definitely recommend this and would absolutely buy another one if the need arose." —Joy Hagel

    amazon.com

Promising review: "We live in Chicago and the winters are brutal on our black Lab's paws. The salt and snow were cracking his pads and although our dog wasn't whining or showing any pain, there is no way that a crack in his pad felt good. We put this on his paws once a day and noticed an improvement. We would take him out to play fetch and apply it the second we came back inside while he was still tired and panting so that he wouldn't lick it all off. It worked well enough that we'll buy it again next winter." —Todd Snyder

Get it from Amazon for $7.94.

    5. A cruelty-free pet ear cleanser that'll gently (but effectively) flush out built-up dirt to keep your furry friend's ears happy and healthy without a trip to the groomer. Everyone will be begging to know where you got this cleanser once your dog's ears flip inside out and don't elicit gasps of horror.

When we adopted him, his ears were unfortunately pretty dirty, but after we used this ear cleaner today, his ears are so clean!! I'm so amazed at everything it managed to get out. Our puppy's ears look so much better now! I would highly recommend this product to anyone with a dog." —Jerome F

    6. A no-sting antifungal spray because watching your pup scratch endlessly isn't fun for anyone. This spray fights against hot spots, rashes, allergies, and more with a soothing blend of aloe and vitamin E. It's your all-in-one weapon against itchy irritants.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "My Frenchie chews on his paws night and day. I’ve tried raw diets, but it was not a food allergy. My dog just produces too much yeast in his paws and tail pocket that he just can’t help it but gnaw in this paws for hours on and scooting his butt to get that itch in that tail pocket. I’ve tried foot soaks, balms, and so many other products, wasting so much money. This is the first product that worked! The smell is very pleasant and easy application; be careful don’t let your dog ingest it. I love this product and won’t be using any other product. Since I’ve been using it, his paws are starting to look normal and not all red/raw and chewed up. I would recommend this to any animal owner to use this if the pets have skin issues." —Uyen Mai Thi Tran

Get it from Amazon for $12.95+ (available in two sizes).

    7. A patented pet hair remover if you want your house to look like you don't have a dog that sheds all over everything. This lightweight roller uses bristles, not sticky tape, to catch lint, meaning you can clean and reuse it over and over and over again.

    8. A dual-suction tug toy with a squeaking, treat-dispensing ball so your good doggo can entertain themselves even when you're busy and not able to play tug-o'-war with them all day, every day.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I was in need of something my puppy could tug on since I can’t play tug-o'-war all day long with him. This has saved me; currently have it on the kitchen floor at the edge of the carpet so he could have traction and be able to pull on it. He seems to enjoy it and tries to get it off the floor. Suctions have held up and it’s been in place for about two weeks, it’s very durable as I have a heavy chewer pitsky puppy who has destroyed almost all his toys. I recommend this for large-breed puppies for sure." —Mimi

Get it from Amazon for $24.99.

    9. A leakproof dog water bottle to keep your active puppo hydrated after running laps with all his park pals. The one-button locking mechanism allows you to release water into the trough and let undrunk water flow back in so nothing goes to waste!

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I love this item. Especially nice when I take my dog to the dog park...for some reason he doesn’t like drinking out of the communal dog bowl. The water flows into the cup area and back into the reservoir if the dog doesn’t drink it all...with a button to lock in the water. Perfect product." —J. Chevalier

Get it from Amazon for $11.89+ (available in two sizes and in three colors).

Promising review: "I am honestly and simply amazed by this product. It lived up to all it promoted. The true test was a long visit from my daughter who is highly allergic to my cat. Typically the visits are cut short due to constant sneezing or drowsiness from allergy medication. I’m sooo pleased to say she spent hours at my house Christmas Eve and never sneezed once. I spray often and especially before her arrival. Works like a charm!" —Di

Get it from Amazon for $19.99.

    11. A pullover fleece vest that's soft and thin enough to comfortably wear around the house while still offering tons of warmth during outdoor potty breaks and cold-weather park dates.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

The vest is pretty stretchy, so reviewers recommend sizing down from what the size chart says.

Promising review: "Very comfy, especially since there are no zippers or Velcro and the fabric is so stretchy. Easy to put on and take off. I initially ordered an extra large based on the size chart but returned it for a large, which fits my rat terrier. Clean shot for the pee appendage, which is always a concern for the boys. The steel-blue color is a nice royal blue. I’m happy and so is Topi...his Georgia thermostat will now fare much better in our cold Midwestern winters." —Jumpindogs

Get it from Amazon for $17.75+ (available in sizes XS–6XL and in 15 colors).

    12. A cordless nail grinder because you and your furniture are tired of getting scratched by your dog's overgrown nails. It's extra quiet, which is perfect for pooches who tend to get spooked by regular clippers.

Before photo of a dog's overgrown nails and an after photo of the same dog with nails that are neatly trimmed
    amazon.com

Promising review: "My older dog (15) has been suffering with long nails for some time. It's affected her ability to walk, and she's always falling. I've taken her to the groomer, tried to clip them myself, taken her walking and none of that helped. I even took her to the vet and had them put her under anesthesia to clip her nails. That didn't do much at all and they recommended I not do that often because of her age. So I got this and hoped for the best. I am beyond impressed and thankful! In one session this has made a huge difference. My dog didn't move or jerk around like she normally does. She just laid there and let me take care of her nails. I could not believe it. When we were done and she got up to walk, I could no longer hear the loud tapping on the floors. She is gonna have to get used to walking normally again." —georgiadiva2k

Get it from Amazon for $29.99.

    13. A gentle hair-removing glove if your dog is afraid of a comb but loves a good pet sesh. This mitt will help curb shedding (no matter your pet's coat type) and is super easy to clean — fur lifts away in one solid, satisfying sheet.

    AnaMaria Glavan / BuzzFeed, youtube.com

My colleague AnaMaria Glavan swears by this thing. In her own words:

"The glove is super comfortable and using it couldn’t be more foolproof: just put it on and run your hands through your pet’s fur. That’s it! The silicone grooves pick up so much fur with ease. Like, my dog looks close to hairless. HOW is he shedding so much?!?! After a few runs, I found that I would have to remove fur from the glove before continuing (you can pick up the fur with your other hand or run the glove under some water — either works) but it’s no biggie. The silicone actually makes it really easy to keep this clean. We got Rockie when he was 5 and he’d been riddled with skin issues and allergies, so I was pretty nervous to use anything that could potentially aggravate his conditions. However! Not only does this *not* bother his skin, but he…loves this. A lot. He starts snoring after exactly two run-throughs on his back. Also, his coat looks SO shiny after each use! TL;DR: This is one of those inexpensive add-ons that any pet owner should have on hand."

Get it from Amazon for $7.99 (available in three colors).

    14. A spiral ground screw so you can easily cut through tough soil and create a secure anchor for your dog's leash at the park or wherever your adventures take you.

    The Grommet

Promising review: "I purchased two of these screws so I could bring my dogs with me when out working in the yard. I have very sandy soil, being so close to Lake Ontario, but I was impressed how well these screws stayed put in the ground. Now I can tether my dogs wherever I go, knowing they are safe and out of harm's way." —Maryann

Get it from Amazon for $9.95 or from the Grommet for $6.95+ (available in two sizes).

    15. A hecka durable duck chew toy to eliminate the constant need to clean up stuffed animal guts whenever your adorable-but-destructive doggo ruins yet another chew toy approximately five minutes after receiving it.

    AnaMaria Glavan / BuzzFeed

Promising review: "Most of the toys I purchase stop squeaking within an hour but this one...this one has lasted weeks of playtime so far, withstanding intense tug of war sessions between both of my XL doggos. I think even they’re shocked they haven’t been able to dig through the stuffing to find the squeaker like a prize in a cereal box! My coworkers get a kick out of hearing the squeaks during virtual meetings. It’s a small price to pay for their happiness and a durable toy. :) I’ll be purchasing more!" —Em B

Get it from Amazon for $6.07.

    18. A liquid tartar remover because your dog won't let you get within a foot of their mouth with a toothbrush in hand. Add this to their water for sneaky oral hygiene benefits, less plaque buildup, and a swoon-inducing smile.

    amazon.com

Promising review: "My dog's molars were turning black and he had a ton of buildup on his canines. In the photo (above), just imagine everywhere you see slight yellow, instead covered in black and brown gunk and hard plaque. His gums were beginning to look inflamed. And, of course, his breath could kill a horse. After one week of constant use (a cap full for every bowl of water) you could see an obvious difference in tooth color. I was blown away. (Why can’t human mouthwash do such a good job on our teeth?) After three weeks, his molars were almost completely clean. After a couple months of use, the plaque on his canines was soft enough to brush some of it off, which was totally impossible before. Plaque covered the canine approximately 70%. Obviously that's no longer the case. IDK what insane solvent this is made of, but it keeps his gross mouth clean as a whistle. Now I don’t have to worry about my picky princess mutt losing his teeth because he can’t be bothered to chew anything." —BaconPancakes

Get it from Amazon for $10.12.

    19. An elevated pet food bowl if your pet also happens to be a messy eater. This feeder contains messes by collecting stray kibble in the top tray and spilled water in the bottom basin.

a reviewer photo of the bowl with water in one bowl and kibble in the other
    amazon.com

Promising review: "My two cats always had a habit of playing with their water bowls and spilling water everywhere. I hated cleaning it up constantly. I was looking for a solution when I came across the Neater Feeder and thought it was a great idea. It is small but it's the perfect size for both my cats. Not only did this product look super nice when I set it up it actually worked!! All of the water got trapped on the bottom and the food was trapped on the top as well. Made cleanup so much easier. I am so happy with this product and highly recommend." —Kelli Palen

Promising review: "We are an unofficial rescue home for dogs and cats. The latest dog came from Peru. She is an 8-year-old Chihuahua, and she was not house trained. So during the transition period from untrained to at least my being trained to understanding her sign language, we have had our share of accidents. We also had some leftover stains from previous dogs in spite of our efforts with other cleaners. New or old urine, this cleaner is phenomenal. The stains sometimes disappear right in front of you. I have to mark the spot I am cleaning so I know where to go back to in order to apply the clean rag or towel to absorb any residual liquid. Don't know how many products we have tried. This is the very first one that deserved a 5-star review. So I just ordered the gallon bottle and will put it on Subscribe & Save as well. I highly recommend it. Obviously." —Gkayemarie

Get it from Amazon for $19.94+ (available in two sizes).

    22. A set of mini combs for clearing out the goop, crusties, and tear staining that often builds up around the eyes of certain dog breeds like Shih Tzus, Pomeranians, and Chihuahuas.

    amazon.com

Promising review: "My cockapoo had tear staining as a pup but as an adult he just gets that goop in the corner of his inner eyes. Sometimes I don’t catch the goop fast enough and it hardens in his muzzle. Even when I do, the goop is slimy and difficult to remove even with dog wipes. This tool is a miracle! Small, lightweight, and a good value for the price. Just one comb through and I got the sticky wet goop. A few more comb throughs and I found eye gunk that was buried in his muzzle. Most importantly, this comb removed the debris without causing any discomfort to my pooch. In fact, he seemed to enjoy it! Just look at the pictures." —Joanna

    23. A special doggie seat belt that clips right to their harness to keep your pup from climbing all over the place mid-drive while still allowing them to comfortably sit or lay down.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I was so excited about the dog car seat buckle as I have been taking her with me for curbside pickups during the pandemic. On some turns or stops she would slide off the seat. She can’t see but likes to stand at times. Will be perfect for keeping her safe. Thank you for making it available and at a great price." —SandraBB

    24. A rechargeable LED dog collar because it's starting to get darker earlier and earlier, and finding your black dog in the dark is, in a word, challenging.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "Now that the evenings are getting darker..and so are the mornings, this collar is exactly what we needed for our two puppies. We got one in green and the other in blue and both are BRIGHT. It gives us peace of mind because no matter what they are up to, we can see them. I will also add in that it has added a wonderful entertainment value to our evenings because it is like attending a rave in our backyard. We get to watch two glow sticks run and wrestle; it has been pretty fun. Beyond that, it gives us peace of mind that they will be seen by others so there is a built in safety measure. We also got the leashes but haven't used them yet. I am sure after daylight savings ends, we will need them for walks. I highly recommend these collars (and leashes!)." —TReader

    amazon.com

Promising review: "My German shepherd loves this mat, it’s large enough for his size and gets him mentally tired. He loves it, too!!! He has trouble with the triangle pieces. He doesn’t shake the mat, but he bites at pieces when it gets too difficult. However, it only took him a few tries to change his approach. I like that the mat is easy to wash, and store. Perfect for dogs who are really active." —Kristen

The Velcro and fleece is a magic combo...they are not only cute, but very functional and most importantly comfortable for my boy! He had his leg broken a few years back, and every time it is bad weather out his leg bothers him. These booties are the answer to our payers :) Yay! I will be back for more and a coat :) Thank you again! Amazing product! You can tell you know your doggies and what they like :)" —Tatyana Merenyuk

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I ordered a size large for my 15-pound Pomeranian and they work GREAT! He is actually a tripawd (missing front left leg) so he needed something with tread out in the ice and snow to keep him from slipping. He actually loves having these on. At first, it was a little awkward but as soon as we went outside and he realized he could run around and play and his feet wouldn't be frozen from the salt and snow...he started romping around and didn't want to come back inside. One has fallen off a few times but I notice right away and just strap it back on. I may have been able to go with a size medium but worry they might be too small. You can't beat the price on these. Great quality." —SQZ1981

Get it from Amazon for $13.99 (available in seven sizes and in three colors).

    31. A poop bag dispenser that attaches right to your dog's leash because you never want to be caught out and about with a mess you can't handle. Bonus: It has a built-in flashlight to make it easy to find your doggy's doo-doos in the dark.

Promising review: "I needed a poop bag holder that I could attach to my leash. While there are plenty of cheap-quality plastic options out there, I went with this option because it had the added feature of a flashlight. I'm not always home in time to walk my puppy before the sun goes down, so having the light attached to the holder is perfect (especially when I forget my phone on the way out of my house). I highly recommend if you'll be trying to scoop the poop in the dark." —Nikki
