Americans Always Pronounce Italian Words Wrong, So Here's The Right Way To Say Them

Hello all. I am back again to shit on how America botches Italian things. Today, the focus is pronunciations of Italian words.

1. Mozzarella is pronounced *gasp* "mots-a-rella", not "mots-a-rel."

There's literally an "A" at the end y'all.

2. Prosciutto is pronounced "pro-shoot-toe", not "pro-shoot."

Again, are we just gonna ignore that last vowel?!

3. Bruschetta is pronounced "broo-skeh-tta", not "broo-sheh-tta."

"Ch" is pronounced with a "k" sound in Italian.

4. Versace is pronounced "ver-sa-che", not "ver-sa-chee."

But truthfully this Versace dress leaves me speechless.

5. Spaghetti is pronounced "spa-gett-ee", not "spuh-geddy."

Really enunciate that "T" sound!

6. Bolognese is pronounced "bo-lo-nay-zeh", not "bo-lo-naise."

Just assume if there's an "e" at the end of the word that the word will end in the "eh" sound.

7. Here, let's practice. How do you pronounce calzone? That's right "cal-zo-neh", not "cal-zone."

8. Yup, same goes for minestrone. It's pronounced "min-eh-stroh-neh", not "min-eh-strone", or "min-eh-stroh-nee."

9. Antipasto is pronounced "ahn-tee-pasto", not "anne-tee-pasto."
