1. Colourpop Lippie Stix in Frenchie

"Ruby Woo by MAC used to be my favorite, but I've stopped buying MAC for various reasons and my new favorite is Colourpop's Lippie Stix in Frenchie. It's bright, matte, and it doesn't move once it's on your lips. It's also only $5! I find it really easy to apply straight from the tube and I never have a problem getting a really clean line around my lips. I also get loads of compliments when I wear it. It makes me feel powerful. Win all around." —Alicia Melville-Smith

You can get it here for $5.

"So my favorite red lipstick is actually two red lipsticks from MAC worn together: Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick in Feels So Grand topped with Velvetease Lip Pencil in Just Add Romance. I happened upon the combination because I saw Gigi Hadid wearing it at the Giambattista Valli show at Paris Fashion Week and it was the perfect ruby red with blue undertones, a little bit deeper than my other favorite, MAC's Ruby Woo. I had been looking for a color like this for months, and when I saw the makeup at the Valli show and learned that it was two shades mixed together, I immediately tried it.

The texture of the liquid lipstick is the most pigmented I've ever used, it dries perfectly matte without the desert feeling, and the color lasts all freaking day long. It once lasted through a burrito, which I feel should be the tagline when selling this product. The Velvettease Lip Pencil is like a chubby crayon and it just gives it a little bit of an extra oomph, but if you wanted to only use one product, go for Feels So Grand. It's incredible." —Augusta Falletta

You can get the Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick here for $21 and the Velvetease Lip Pencil for $21 here.

3. Anastasia Liquid Lipstick in Spicy

"This lipstick has all the passion and class of the classic red, but the orange touch adds a fun, sleek, and modern look to it. It also goes beautifully with most skin tones, which in my opinion, turns it into an inclusive beauty product for women of all backgrounds and ethnicities." —Brenda Blanco

You can get it here for $20.

"Cranberry Stiletto by Beauty Bakerie is my new favorite red for fall. I love the color because it's so rich, and the pigment is on point. It's matte, but it's not too drying on my lips. Also, I put this stuff on in the morning and it lasts all day. I swear I could kiss a cow and it still wouldn't come off." —Essence Gant

You can get it here for $20.

5. Milk Lip Pigment in That Red Tho

"I'm addicted to the velvety-powdery matte texture and buildable color of Milk's Lip Pigment in That Red Tho. It's a little annoying that it comes in a pot, but I've found it actually looks best when applied with my fingertip anyway; it gives it a slightly blurry, soft-focus look." —Alison Willmore

You can get it here for $24.

"I’m pretty sure I first picked up Snow White years ago because I read it was a dupe for some high-end lipstick I can’t be bothered to remember now. It's the perfect slightly vampy red, which I prefer to bright reds (because dark soul = dark lips). And even though I smear anything that's not super-drying liquid lipstick all over my face (I’m a messy monster when I eat), I'm willing to make that sacrifice to wear Snow White because it just gives off this "oh, DAMN" vibe. I have two tubes because I thought I lost my first one, but since it’s only what, like $4 (?!!!), I'm surprised I don't own more." —Sarah Han

You can get it here for $3.99.

"This is my go-to everyday lipstick. It's more of a faded rose than red, but it's definitely not nude either. I love that it's very pigmented and thick going on, and it dries matte, so it doesn't move around or feather at all. I've never had to line it, and even when I put it on without a mirror (which I do a lot) it looks great and never messy!" —Andrea Hickey

You can get it here for $22.

"I love my NYX lipstick because not only does it last throughout the day, but also the shade of red is not the typical color. It’s a little lighter than other red lipsticks which makes it pop out more with my skin color. I also love that it’s semi-liquid which makes it easy to put on." —Conz Preti

You can buy it here for $5.99.

9. Sephora Rouge Lipstick in It Girl

"I wear Sephora Rouge Matte Lipstick in It Girl, a red-orange, because it's a nice way to pop in some Crayola color to my mostly-black wardrobe." —Katie Hasty

You can get it here for $12.50.

"I use it because it's matte and it doesn’t smudge or disappear as fast as the other ones I've tried (considering that I’m super anxious and I’m always touching my face or licking my lips without realizing it). This one lasts the longest and I'm sure that if I didn't do all that touching it would be even better." —Bibiñe Barud

You can get it here for $24.

"This lipstick has an amazing texture, stays on all day, and it's the perfect, bold pop of red. Whenever I'm having a day where I'm feeling less-than-awesome, I throw it on and I instantly feel a little more badass. I bought it on a whim when I wandered into a store on the boardwalk in Asbury Park. I absolutely fell in love with it right away and now I wear it ALL. THE. TIME.

Random fact: This is the same lipstick Lady Gaga wore in American Horror Story. Pretty cooooool!" —Kaelin Tully

You can get it here for $22.

"I prefer lip stains over lipsticks because they last much longer and this Sephora one is no exception. The color is super rich and vibrant and it is easy to apply. I personally think that this lip stain works better than most expensive ones! For a mere $14, you can get extremely good coverage that lasts all day. The day I took this picture, I didn't reapply the stain at all, so you can see how well it actually works." —Jessica Lima

You can get it here for $14.

"I'm kind of obsessed with Colourpop's matte lipsticks. When I first discovered them I bought like 7 different colors because they're only $6 (!!!!), and this red was part of that batch. I love bright reds and oranges because they go well with my very pale face. Also, whenever I don't feel like putting too much makeup on, I wear this lipstick, I brush my eyebrows and still feel glam AF but without actually having to do much. It's very, very matte, so I usually apply a some Chapstick before putting it on. It also lasts forever; it can probably survive the apocalypse along with roaches and Harambe memes. I recommend it 1000%. —Daniela Cadena

You can get it here for $6.

14. Rouge Dior Lipstick in Trafalgar

"I Wore Christian Dior Trafalgar for my wedding day and loved it. It's creamy, stays on, and doesn't dry your lips out. Plus, as a redhead, it's not easy to find a perfect red color, but this one really goes well with red hair and fairer skin." —Erin La Rosa

You can get here for $35.

"My fave is NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl. It's a soft, thick pencil, so it's really easy to put on, and lasts surprisingly well. It doesn't stay on through eating, but can last a coffee or a couple drinks. It's a really nice, smooth color, and you only need one layer. It's really good for every day because its not too bold. For a brighter and more long-lasting color, I pair it with a cheap red lipliner. It's not the cheapest lipstick out there but it'll last you at least a year." —Jemima Skelley

You can get it here for $26.

16. MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo

"This one is super matte, and it works perfectly for me because I'm not into glossy lip stains or any kind of shiny lipsticks. However, I need to apply a little bit of lip balm before the lipstick because it's REALLY REALLY MATTE, but that's not a big deal.

The other thing is that is a medium bright tone, which I find ideal because I wear black 90% of the time and this color gives me life (although I might be a little dead inside). It lasts for a pretty long time and looks super pro when you use it with lip liner, but I almost never have time for that." —Greta Alvarez

You can get it here for $17.
