A Makeup Artist Created A Blackface "Transformation" Look And The Internet Is Not Happy

She also used the hashtag #slave.

Percem Akin, an Istanbul-based makeup artist, is getting dragged on social media after posting an offensive blackface "transformation" on Instagram and Youtube.

E!

Yup. It happened. Again.

You'd think by now, more makeup artists would stop making the same insensitive mistake over and over again, but no, unfortunately it keeps happening.

As if blackface wasn't offensive enough, she used the hashtag #slave and #sadmakeup to promote her image.

Black face is never ok smh and the hashtag #slave is just blatant disrespect and ignorance

Obviously, people are pissed.

Perçem told BuzzFeed she was creating a look for a movie based on what the directors asked.

OWN

"This post is for a movie character in my country. Directors came and asked me: Could you do this? And the movie is about the fucking racism which is rising all around the world. So this is not my design and not my idea, because I am just a makeup artist not director, you know."

She also claims she had to do the look on herself because of the lack of black actors in Turkey.

"We are not living in America or Africa, so finding any black model is so difficult in here. I have never think that this is racist while i am doing this. I just try to see pure beauty behind the pain who have it."

And about the hashtag, she explained someone deliberately changed it from #slayer to #slave, and she's taking legal action against them.

"I am deeply sorry If I hurt all those people. And also I wanna say that, I never used the hashtag #slave, never ever. My hashtags is #slayer which is the tittle of the movie. Someone in my country had changed this and started all this against me and I am taking a legal action against to them now."

Perçem also said she never uploaded a Halloween tutorial of this look, and she has the Youtube logs to prove it. She did make her Instagram account private and turned off the comments on the infamous picture.

Idk anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
