How To Take Care Of Your Mind-Its Mental Wellness Month!

Its Mental Wellness Month! Here are some ways to keep your mind happy and healthy during the semester.

Eat up!

Make sure to eat! Choose healthy snacks that are high in protein and are packed full vitamins and nutrients. Try nuts, granola bars, fruit or popcorn! This will help keep your brain alert and focused.

Do what you love!

Maybe you love running, mediating or baking something yummy! Take time out of your day to do what you love. Your brain will feel rested and ready to take on whatever the day has in store!

Find your support system!

Make a mental list of people who you trust. It might be your roommates, mom, professor or significant other. Let them know whats going on in your life and let them support you! Your RA, student minister and the counseling center are all great support systems if you need a little extra TLC.

Sleep!

Instead of subsisting caffeine for sleep, try to get 6-8 hours of solid sleep a night. Use an app on your phone, like the Health app or your Fitbit to make sure your'e sleeping enough. Sleep is cardio for your brain!

Go on a Social Media detox!

Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are fun ways to share your life with your friends! But lets be honest, is there anything going on after midnight that's that interesting? Log out of social media at least a half hour before you go to bed to give yourself better rest.

Take the time to take care of yourself this semester! If you are in need of additional support, you can reach out to your RA, Student Minister, Orientation Adviser, Campus Ministry, Dean of Students or the Counseling Center. Here's to happy and healthy minds in 2017!
