We Tested Out The New Cheeseburger At Costco To See WTF The Big Deal Is

"I like my burgers like I like my men, wet and meaty."

Costco recently started testing out a new cheeseburger in their food court. But, currently, it's only being tested in a few locations – 10 to be exact.

Luckily, for us LA locals/serious Costco food lovers, one of those locations is Pacoima, CA. So, we decided to venture the (really not that far in good traffic) 20 minutes north to get a taste of the latest addition to the Costco food court family.

But, would it be worth venturing outside in this HOT AF 98 degrees weather?!

We immediately ordered two cheeseburgers (which cost $4.99 each, plus tax), and were told we'd have to wait seven minutes (so exact!). So when the burgers finally arrived, we were REA-DY.

The foil wasn't exactly fancy, but DAMN, look how big those are! That's a THIRD POUND of meat on each plate.

Before trying them, we got a good look at what we were working with.

The burger was definitely not as "pretty" as the one in the photo (but when are they ever?). However, the bun did look ~buttery~ and there was definitely a thick AF patty in there as well as cheese, lettuce, and tomato – seemed pretty standard.

And there was certainly no lack of ~special~ sauce – which was basically Thousand Island dressing.

However, that's the only condiment that comes with it, so if you want ketchup and mustard, you'll have to add it yourself (like Pablo did).

Pablo tasted the cheeseburger first and thought, "The burger didn't look so pretty on the outside, but who am I to judge on appearances?"

"Upon further inspection, I noticed that the burger was pretty dry. If you know me, you know that I like my burgers like I like my men, wet and meaty. So, I immediately squirted on some ketchup and mustard and went to town. My initial reaction was a tad underwhelming. This is by NO means a bad burger, but I pictured all the the times I've devoured a chicken bake and wished I was chewing on that instead. It tastes exactly like a theme park burger, which means it was a bit bland, but tolerable. On the plus side, it was bigger than my face, so I'll be full until 2018."

Crystal had ~heard~ that this cheeseburger was supposed to taste like Shake Shack, so she went in with some high expectations.

"Honestly? This is nothing like a Shake Shack burger. So, that was a little disappointing. It was kind of like, if your friend Joe decided he wanted to ~recreate~ a Shake Shack burger at home and he invited you over to try it, and you had to be like, 'Oh, yeah this is great. Nice job, Joe!' but, secretly, you wished you could be eating In-N-Out instead – it's like that. I did really like the bun, though, and I spent the entire time wondering if it was a potato bun or brioche. Turns out, it's a challah bread bun! At this price point, for the amount of food you get, it's a pretty decent deal."

Overall, we feel like the burger is worth a try if you're a Costco food fan.

Pablo: "Would I eat this again? Probably not. Would I recommend you eat it? Sure, I don't know you. It's definitely worth trying out once just to see how your taste buds react."

Crystal: "This was good to try, but I'll probably stick with Costco's iconic chicken bakes and turkey provolone sandwiches in the future."
