Disney Just Announced Phoebe Waller-Bridge Is Joining "Indiana Jones 5," And My Soul's Prepared

From hot priest to hot archaeologist.

In case you didn't know, Indiana Jones 5 is happening. And, yes, Harrison Ford is returning to his iconic role, and this time he'll be joined by British superstar Phoebe Waller-Bridge, best known as the creator and star of critical darling Fleabag.

If you haven't seen Fleabag, btw, just know that it swept the 2019 Emmys. So, yeah, it's GOOD and I highly recommend!

...then worked as a writer for the next James Bond movie, No Time to Die (she shares screenwriting credits on this one with director Cary Joji Fukunaga and longtime Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade).

No Time to Die was supposed to come out in 2020, but has been delayed (several times) to Oct. 8, 2021 because of the pandemic.

And she's also set to costar with Donald Glover in Amazon's TV series reboot of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which they will both co-create and exec produce.

For the record, Steven Spielberg will NOT be returning to the director's chair for Indiana Jones 5. However, composer John Williams will return to score, continuing a tradition he started 40 years ago with Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Spielberg will remain on board the project as a producer, however.

Instead, acclaimed director James Mangold (Logan; Walk the Line; Girl, Interrupted) will be taking the reins.

In a press release, Mangold said, “I'm thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers. Steven, Harrison, Kathy (Kennedy), Frank (Marshall), and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can't help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.”

Waller-Bridge's casting also marks a bit of a reunion for her and Lucasfilm. She voiced the character L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Yup, she played Donald Glover's droid lover in Solo. So Mr. & Mrs. Smith will be yet ANOTHER reunion for her!

Basically, Waller-Bridge is busy AF, and now she's going to be in Indiana Jones, and IDK how she does it, but I'm excited for all of it!
