Malaysia Airlifts Students from Quake Zone | Malaysia in Focus
Malaysia has sent three military aircraft to Padang in Indonesia to fly home about 300 Malaysian students from the area hit by a 7.6 magnitude earthquake.
A spokesman for the Malaysian embassy in Jakarta told reporters ”bringing them home is the best option as it will be difficult for them to remain in Padang. Furthermore, all lectures have been cancelled.”
The earthquake has devastated a wide area in west Sumatra claiming hundreds of lives.
