cristat commented on I Let My Son Test Out This Service That's Like Uber For Kids And Here's How It Went

They don’t have insurance that covers unaccompanied minors if something were to happen. These other services such as Kango do have that. Which is another reason why prices are a bit high. (I’m a former Kango driver and also drove for 2 other companies doing the same thing)

I used to work for Kango, as well as Shuddle (before they ran out of funding) and HopSkipDrive. All of them required in person meetings/interviews before being allowed to drive, full vehicle inspection, DMV check, background check and fingerprinting and at least one if not all required…

cristat commented on Here's Everything Vegans Can Order At Fast Food Restaurants

This has been mentioned in other comments but Chipotle is easy to make vegan, as is Freebirds (Freebirds has beyond meat at the one near me and used to have tempeh). I used to go to Habit Burger too and just ask for the Portobello Burger without the patty, and with no sauce or cheese.…

cristat commented on Hey Frequent Travelers, What Are The Products You Won't Travel Without?

A microfiber travel towel! They fold up super compact compared to regular towels (but still are quite large when unfolded) so it is easy to pack in any size bag. They dry very quickly. They can be used as shower towels if you’d rather have your own towel than use a hotel, airbnb or…

cristat commented on What Are The Cutest Small Towns You've Visited In America?

Ketchum, Idaho, in the area better known as Sun Valley. I’ve never been there in winter which is what it’s known for but it was a very relaxing cute town to stay in for the summer. Plenty of delicious food, cute shops, a farmers market on Tuesdays at the base of the ski runs, a river…

cristat commented on How Do You Cook And Eat Healthy On A Budget?

I get produce from Imperfect Produce. You can get delicious organic produce for way cheaper than most grocery stores, delivered straight to your door. The produce may have a scar or be small but usually it’s just surplus that the grocery stores can’t sell and is perfectly good. Now…

As a teacher, libraries are a great place to tutor kids over summer because it's a neutral place if parents prefer not to do tutoring in their or your home and you have so many books available to support your tutoring session! Also many libraries have some sort of used or discount…

cristat commented on Tell Us Your Smart Hacks And Tips For Traveling With Kids

I'm not a parent but we spent a lot of time driving between SoCal and Idaho when I was a kid and what my mom did was make up a backpack full of goodies for each kid. Half were snacks (a ziplock of Goldfish, box of animal crackers, etc), wrapped in foil and half were small trinkets…

I use fabric for all of my bulletin boards too! Looks nicer, and is much more durable than just butcher paper.

cristat commented on Hey Teachers, What's The Coolest Or Most Useful Thing In Your Classroom?

I have a sensory table (aka the "fun table") and a small trampoline. It works great when kids need a break or as a reward when they finish their assignments. The kids and I made slime (Gak) together as a class, and it also has different kinds of fidgets, stress balls (most homemade…
