I agree. I see it as Hermione's appearance is a blank template for however someone wishes to view her, and that the most important characteristic that she has is not her appearance, but who she is as a person. She can be all things to all people.
A major problem about what your saying with Hermione is that, up until this casting, all visual representations of Hermione have been white, and up until this point, Rowling had done nothing to alter that she is or is not. But I do understand what you're saying. It opens up the conversation…Â
I think it's wonderful that they're casting like this, but I understand the "canon/non-canon" issue everyone is having with it. For roughly 20 years the books have been coming out with covers and illustrations inside, combined with Emma Watson's casting, depicting Hermione as white…Â
