A Newfoundland Politician Switched Parties, So Someone Posted A Takedown Of Him On Kijiji

"I take payment in cash or McDonald's gift cards," it says.

Ryan Cleary (right) of Newfoundland ran as a candidate for the NDP in the recent federal election. He lost. Not too long after, he announced he's switching parties to run for the Progressive Conservatives in the upcoming provincial election.

CBC Newfoundland called Cleary's move a "jaw-dropping decision."

It certainly struck a nerve with at least one person. They posted an ad on Kijiji about Cleary that begins, "For sale two dozen slightly used men’s neckties." It has photos of orange neckties and notes that some "were gifts from my constituents so I never really valued them very much."

The ad is titled, "For Sale: Political Future." (Orange is of course the colour of the NDP.)

Here's the full text of the Kijiji ad:

For sale two dozen slightly used men's neckties. All are orange in colour, some are tear-stained but otherwise in good condition. One was a gift from my former boss Tom, he used to be the next Prime Minister of Canada but you probably haven't heard of him. The rest were gifts from my constituents so I never really valued them very much. One of the ties has a very tight noose in it that i cannot get undone, but don't worry I did not go through with it on my own, I decided to do it publically in the riding of Windsor Lake instead.

I take payment in cash or McDonald's gift cards.
