Haha, Of Course Twitter's Deal To Stream NFL Games Doesn't Apply In Canada

Oh you want to watch NFL games on Twitter like everyone else? NOPE.

Hey Canada! Are you ready to stream some football for free on Twitter! Yeah! Today the NFL and Twitter announced a "global" deal that will see the social network stream Thursday night games online.

My dad is going to love this: watch the 2016 Thursday night @NFL games with Twitter…right on Twitter! 🏈🐦📺 https://t.co/RaPKFhOnha

Here's Twitter's CEO Jack Dorsey sharing the exciting news.

As the Wall Street Journal reported, the deal enables Twitter to "to stream the games free globally across devices."

The NFL Canada Twitter feed was pumped!

One problem: NFL rights in Canada are owned by Rogers, and so that means no streaming NFL games for us. It seems even the NFL was confused about this at one point today, though some media reports correctly said Canada was getting the ol' shafteroo.

NFL confirmed their initial statement to me was wrong, and that "global" Twitter streaming deal indeed excludes Canada.

It's like those Super Bowl commercials all over again.

    Sorry, Canada.
